This is along the tracks off the highway in Tulare , mind you population is around 70k, it's not los Angeles ...tha is just a small snap shot....we have a friend " Rodney, local ( former homeless ) a regular downtown figure , nice guy...he got in one of the programs a couple years ago, he is put up in a nice apartment, gets an allowance every month ....you know where he spends his days, on the streets with his shopping cart, no desire to do anything different

This is in today's paper...this is an everyday thing

It's amazing how this kind of thing seems to be limited to California and you can't find similar stories in other states.

what i find amazing is lack of press coverage about it  in other states

and why was George on the ground? Did the officers place him there? May want to try a different argument, because this hole can get deep quick.

    my house.

They were protesting the scene of a “murder” perpetrated by the police. Police were called after being called for a disturbance by a convenience store employee. Victim/suspect fled the scene. Upon approaching the victim, police used non-lethal tasers multiple times, he kept walking. He approached convenience store door with knife in hand and was shot by police. City is in turmoil over it, but Wisconsin said “hold my beer and watch this” the very next day.

We’ve had protests and peaceful rally’s. There have also been protestors blocking roadways and graffiti’ing neighborhoods. They’ve called for the mayor to resign. We were all hoping Hurricane Laura would calm things down. Only time will tell.

It only goes back to 2004. The following top to bottom are '16, '12, '08 and '04. www.politicalcompass.org

You can take a quiz and see where you sit on the scale as well.

I definitely fall to one side of this whole shebang, probably even farther over politically than the main protagonists on 'my' side, but, here are some actual statistics I've gleaned from research into my feelz:

    Arguments Won: 0
    Minds Changed: 0
    Gov't Policies Fixed: 0

If MLK said "A riot is the language of the unheard" then I have to wonder what endless, pointless arguments on the intertubes are. Probably "the language of the lazy comfortable".

Or maybe Trump has bamboozled you away from what you actually believe?

I'm also about there on the L / R scale but significantly further libertarian.

@fishlessman, I think it means that how you vote actually isn't logically connected to what values you really hold.  You're voting based on emotion for someone that doesn't share your value system.

I've always thought I was a centrist - voted for more Republicans than Democrats in my life but as the Republican values have changed that is becoming less true.  This confirms it.

Also, I'm predicting a market crash whether Trump wins or not ... but if he doesn't win, it will be worse.  Here's why. The markets are being artificially pumped right now.  There's tonnes of evidence to suggest what is happening is not normal ... especially with job losses and also economies reporting 30% dips in GDP.  I think the market is being pumped to help Trump get re-elected. Once he is re-elected (if he is) ... then they don't need to pump the markets anymore ... and they will probably need to let it go at some stage ... they can't just keep printing money (or maybe they can ...).
That is rather bold to predict a market crash on a particular day.  How will you be deploying your capital to take advantage of this significant drop in the equity markets?  And when?
Dude, I have to ask ... is this a legit question, or are you trolling for a reaction by reacting adversely to my humble opinion (which I honestly don't have time for or interest to pursue)? I'm not a financial advisor, and you should use your own judgement to determine investment strategies that are suitable to you, as well as the risk you are willing to take. I can only share my thoughts, speculations and assumptions for debate EXCLUSIVELY ... do not rely on my information at all for your own investments.

Assuming that this is a legit question, and simply for the sake of discussion, this past week I moved most of my cash investments to funds that favor bonds over equity ... not totally bonds, because I cannot be completely sure ... but there is definitely weighting on bonds/cash (say around 60% to 65%).

If the market crashes, I will invest, likely early 2021 ... particularly when I can still make pension contributions, which will lower my taxes due, and serve as a double benefit (get a chunk of that money back in tax returns, and buy in the market at a good entry).

No need for me to rush to invest, sit back and I'll see what happens, and for me, it's never a fully in or fully out thing. It's a matter of what proportion is in bonds/cash vs. equity ... and that varies dependent on whether I am bullish or bearish.

Those were serious questions, thank you for taking the time to answer.
Hey no problem. What are your thoughts on this? I'd like to hear them.

I've done that test a few times over the last decade+. Would be interesting to see what might have changed over the years but anyway, here is today's result:

Pretty funny that @fishlessman is more liberal (albeit very slightly) than me yet  I'm one of those that have been told they "hate America".  :)
