I'm glad I went. Will try to go back tomorrow and Sat. Felt good to help out for folks who didn't make it out of the storm like I did, baking scones and **** .

Kind of. It gets busy when meat comes off the pits then not so much while other stuff is getting prepped. They have a system down with their old hands, so they do much of the prep and loading of the pits. It was a good day though. There was always somewhere one could pitch in , or take a break if needed.

Very cool. That crowd will put it to good use. They know what they're doing for sure.

Very honorable stuff here, sorry to hear about your arm @The Cen-Tex Smoker.

Judging by the size of those rigs they are working with its hard to imagine cooking on an egg. Very impressive operation.

Agreed. They wanted a few griddles and grills for the camp cook station for all the volunteers to cook for each other. The big rigs handle all the heavy lifting.

  • Surgery next week but can't do any more damage than I've done so I'm headed to Houston. He said that I would lose 40-50% of my supination strength (twisting) if I didn't get it fixed. Not ready to give up on any strength or flexibility at this point.

Way better than I expected when I did it. Thought I was going in for emergency surgery on the spot. Surgery is optional but he said that if I was at all active I would not be happy with the results of letting it heal on its own. I'm 48- not giving up the ghost quite yet.

One good thing with bringing Verlander on board is you also bring his girlfriend on board.
