Attended a small concert by Craig Wayne Boyd for about 50 people at a friend’s ranch. Got to sit on the stage/porch about 10 feet from him. He won “The Voice” in 2014. Needless to say, he has a great voice. It was a great evening.

Cooking up a rich syrup for cocktails. I couldn’t find Demerara sugar so I got sugar in the raw.

What a great experience. For me, when it comes to music, the smaller the venue, the better. Not that interested in stadiums anymore.Foghorn said:

P.O.'ed because it started to pour rain 5 minutes before lighting time. was really looking forward to some burgers and fries. Daughter was pushing for me to also heat up some pecan pie.~~

I take it from your post that your Egg is unprotected.zaphod said:P.O.'ed because it started to pour rain 5 minutes before lighting time. was really looking forward to some burgers and fries. Daughter was pushing for me to also heat up some pecan pie.I have two Eggs on a very large cedar table in the backyard - one LBGE and one MMX. But I also keep a backup MMX on a covered front porch in the event of precipitation. We host a lot, so this setup allows us to pivot without changing the approach altogether. -
The egg is on the back deck. we have a retractable awning, but it needs about 3 days to dry out which are hard to find in PNW fall. My wife and I have plans for a covered deck and my wife's husband has plans for a MMX under the deck at one end of the table.GrateEggspectations said:

we rarely host. I invite, but takers are few and far between. We host a lot, so this setup allows us to pivot without changing the approach altogether.~~

Hah! Just as we put the backup plan into the oven, rain stopped and sun came out. But we stayed inside and made witches fingers for Halloween.lousubcap said:@zaphod - the BGE doesn't care and you can only get so wet!

Tried the new 518 Smokehouse BBQ restaurant for lunch today, located in Chapin, SC. New favorite. I wouldn’t drive across state lines for it, but it’s the best barbecue I’ve had outside of Lewis. Definitely the best in the midlands. Slightly pricier than typical, but much more upscale and a great “treat spot.” Highly recommend it.

@Dyal_SC try the new Palmira on 61 in West Ashley. The beef cheeks were spectacular, immediately followed by a 2 hour nap.LBGE, 36" Blackstone, Anova ProCharleston, SC

Yeah I’ll have to give that a go next time I’m down that way. Never heard of that one before. Looks very nice on the website. Charleston has a lot to offer in the foodie realm.

KANSAS, Cheyenne County. A farm with 1,120 acres sold at auction for $1.92 million, or $1,714 per acre. The land was divided into three tracts. The first was a 160-acre quarter section of Class II farmland with a history of wheat production. It sold for $3,000 per acre. The second parcel was a full section, or 640 acres, of grass with good fences and water access. It sold for $1,450 per acre. The last tract was a 320-acre half section directly across the street that has 66 tillable acres currently planted to feed. It sold for $1,600.Ozzie_Isaac said:
