    My son is a keeper.   I love watching the PKs and it was cool to see Kasper’s Dad reaction.  Too bad one of them had to lose.

    I am quite fond of goalies, generally.  They tend to be slightly unhinged / eccentric.  However, I draw the line at Kasper Schmeichel - who comes across as an arrogant narcissist.

    As to todays matches;
    Mexico could scare Brazil,  but scoring one won't be enough.  Can Mexico get 2-0 ahead?
    Japan probably don't have enough to contain Belgium. They might adopt a defensive strategy, but Lukaku and pals will overcome it in the end.

    The fake injuries/acting is ridiculous. That Brazilian player flopped around worse than Joe Theisman after the LT hit.

    @DoubleEgger got me thinking, why is embellishment allowed? Since the arrival of Europeans, leagues like the NHL have adopted a diving/embellishment penalty. Not saying there wasn’t some fakers trying to draw a penalty before, but as most Euro players also grew up with soccer, they fall about and writher in pain with the slightest provocation.
    Second question, why isn’t time kept with a visible clock in the stadium? Injury or stoppage time is ridiculous. Just stop the clock instead of the ref making up added time.
    BTW - looks like Mexico is toast. Too bad, would have liked to see them advance.

    I definitely don’t understand the timing of the game. It has the ability to be riddled with fraud. With FIFA’s history of rampant fraud, I’m surprised that they haven’t taken every effort possible to eliminate any potential issues.

    Almost as entertaining as flopping in the NBA.

    Interesting tidbit from the local news after the game. Mexico has never scored against Brazil in the World Cup.

    Gotta admit that the coast-to-coast play in the first half of the Brazil-Mexico match made for excellent viewing.  But once Brazil scored the complexion changed.

    Why do soccer players play soccer?

    So they don't have to watch it!

    You knew Belgium was going to equalize once you saw how much empty space Hazard just had.

    Disappointing ending, looked like an upset was on the way for a while. The big match tomorrow night, will England crack under pressure?

    Too bad that the Japanese couldn't hold on a little longer.  Belgium just had too much for them.  Onto tomorrow.

    I'm looking for a Swiss and Colombian win!  Could easily be wrong on both of those!

    Yea but the amazing recovery is a thing to behold-even better when the player is carried off with serious trauma and then is right back out there.  We are witnessing medical miracles at every turn.  =)

    Anyone have any of the aerosol spray that seems to mend all wounds and cure all pain?  I remember in my Rugby playing days, we had a bucket of water and sponge that tried to do the same thing!  It was rarely successful.

    Neymar's writhing was a disgrace.   I would pay to watch a 24 hr live feed of him in every day life when he does the same thing when;
    his coffee is slightly warmer than anticipated,
    his pet dog brushes past him in the house,
    he squeezes his finger sliding his shoes on,
    the lid on a jar needs a tough twist........

    These are fully grown adult men, where else in society would that behaviour be reasonable?  I have sympathy for the lads that do get a whack, are brought down heavily or raked with studs - but honestly,  what a buffoon?   Our Brazilian friends have previous for it though; take a bow Mr Rivaldo.

    Anyhoo - I had almost forgotten England were still there.  Looking forward to tonight.  All results very possible.
    Odds here are;
    England almost evens at 11/10,  Colombia at 3/1 - which seems attractive and at the same time unpatriotic.  Level at 90 minutes is 2/1.

    And don't forget it's the first T20 vs India, too.  It's at Old Trafford - no not the red temple of commercialism but the cricket ground around the corner up in Manchester - famous for rain and for not being Liverpool.   Home to those cheeky scally-wags Oasis, or was until they got rich and moved to Notting Hill.

    The spray is probably just water as well.
