Just "bought" (via taxes downstream) the free covid test kits.  Early roll-out link in the below article thru the USPS:
    https://www.cbsnews.com/news/free-covid-tests-launch-covidtests-gov-white-house/
I ordered four this morning.  Curious to see how this all works out.

Also, is it 4 kits with 2 tests a piece like you get at Walgreens, or is it 4 tests total?
Forget all that noise. You can’t catch the ‘rona if you never test positive.

+1, had Merrills for a long time, but once I tried the Oboz I agreed that the extra $$ is well worth it.

I should have looked at those too, but I guess I have built up brand loyalty with Merrell. I have loved every pair that I have owned.

My FoodSaver is on its last legs.  Pretty frustrating trying to seal anything with liquid in it, so I just ordered one of the VEVOR chamber vacuum sealers.
    Congrats, it’s a game changer.

I nearly threw my FoodSaver across the kitchen, it was aggravating me so much.  I’ve wanted something better for a while now, and today was the final straw.

92cc beast plus parts to fix my old saw and an extra top end.  And an auxiliary oiler for the mill.  Took a while to ship from China.

I just reorganized my pantry and have no room for a new vacuum sealer.  I promised I would only get gadgets of I have a space for them.

@Ozzie_Isaac - buy ahead in advance of that outdoor palace you are watching get built.  With all the space of that horse spa there's got to be room for a few small appliances.  Just lookin to give you an out here...

My last set of hikers were Merrell's, and we were just returning from a glacier hike in Utah (yeah, we had a glacier in UT, it's gone now) and the sole on one shoe fell off (I could feel it flopping on the way down).  I dodged a bullet there.  Drove home barefoot.
I replaced them with a pair of Oboz's, also on @YukonRon's recommendation.  I then had two PE's, and since then can't really hike at all, not how I wanted to spend my retirement.  I throw them on while mowing the lawn but they're still not really broken-in; they'll probably last longer than I will at this point.

That is impressive in the rough.  I am sure the finish will be beyond incredible.
Better to be lucky than good as this continues.

Thank you!  I think the contractors wish I didn't work from home.  I am very particular about certain things.  The GM has pretty much stopped coming out on his own.  He waits for my calls and questions.

On the lucky front, I am very lucky I have an incredibly patient wife who only gave me a list of some things important to her, and she let me run wild with my things.

I added a lot of drawers and cabinets outside.  I definitely plan to move a lot of my grill only type items to the outdoor kitchen.

Here is the patio area and outdoor roman bath.  It is coming along slowly but surely.

A “Roman bath?” Is that like a giant bidet?
  • Very nice Ozzie. It’s coming along nicely. It’s awesome that you can be there every step of the way. No shortcuts and critical decisions when they come up.

It is a real double edge sword.  I love being able to adjust on the fly and tweak things, make sure they are not cutting corners (after I measured things a few times and talked their language, they really started taking care of business), and also see how it is all done and where everything is laid.

On the flip side, sometimes you just want to enjoy a hotdog and not see how it is made.

  • I completely understand the other side as well. But it will pay off in the long run long and you know you are getting the best quality job as possible. Take care of the workers and show them you appreciate their hard work and they will most always go out of their way to make sure you are happy.

That looks fantastic. I've heard the worst part of the construction industry isn't the grueling hours or back-breaking labor, but dealing with homeowners.

Maybe some simplex nails between the sole and the liner?  (facing down would be better ;) )

I tried Oboz and they just didn’t fit me well, so I retuned them after six months (REI).  Merrell and Keen are better fits for me.  Used to buy Merrell at Cabelas, they had a model that was only available at Cabelas, not sure if that’s still true.  I stick to Keen boots now, best for my foot and they last longer for me than Merrell.
    Love you bro!

At some of the plants we visit for work here, ice cleats are required. There is all kinds now that slip on boots or are smaller ones (2"x4" studded pad) on an elastic strap so you can turn them around when inside. Its interesting when there are 7 or 8 guys hopping around on one foot trying to flip them as they enter the building falling all over the place. I swear some of the safety rules here cause more accidents than they prevent.

It's way easier to reach your shoes if you are sitting down, maybe a bench?

Have you ever seen the foam lined safety glasses? They are a requirement at the same place they sit about 1/2" farther off your face then regular safety glasses. Go from the cold outside to warm inside and you won't be able to find the bench from the fog. Masks make the problem much worse. I got nothing against PPE or masks, just pointing out what i go through almost daily. I get bored sometimes

korkers are ice spikes worn under wading boots, steelhead fishing is done on ice covered rocks casting into the rivers up there. korker friendly is a sign posted in front of the bar so you can wear them indoors. dancing on a beautiful maple dance floor is allowed with spiked korkers. the local men are passed out by two in the afternoon laying on the bar floors, the women are still active as the bar tenders call them for husband pickups, they inturn try to pickup any guy still standing.  new york...new york.  real poor country in some areas, never saw so many blue tarps on houses than there. dont talk taxes to a local not near the city or all you will hear is how it all goes to support the city
