  • I’m about to put a prime rib-roast (8lb boneless) in the fridge to dry for a few days. Planning to cook Saturday night. Should I go ahead and salt it now or should I salt it maybe Friday evening or Saturday morning? Any tried and true seasonings I should consider? Planning on 250° on the egg until 5-10° below finished target temp. So taking off around 125° or so. Hoping to not need a sear at the end but we will see.

Re: salting, I found the following:

“How long before cooking should you salt a roast?
There is one crucial thing to keep in mind: You must salt the meat or poultry at least 6 hours before cooking, and preferably 1 to 4 days before.”

As far as what seasonings to consider, I highly recommend Franklin’s secret blend.

Enjoy the cook. That’s one I’d be looking forward to.

Just noticed this weird thing on the mobile view of the main page on the forum: at some point if you scroll down there is a gap and then it just starts over again:

Only does it once.  Seems like a waste of space.  It would be better to see more threads.
Maybe BGE is hiring people to find an innovative way to fix it.

I hope some of the same people are working on fixing the tiny gifs, because I had a great one to post here.

My wife just came home with these. Perfect little stocking stuffers.

Where did she find these? I've been wanting to try but don't want to commit to full bottles of them all.

She picked them up at Walmart. Which makes sense as they carry Blues Hog sauce now. They were $1/bottle.

Just renegotiated my ISP+TV contract. Glad they now have two years instead of one for as long as I can remember. 25% jump but can't complain because last year's deal was insanely discounted, cheaper than the previous five years IIRC.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing. Hope I spot that around these parts as well. The only one I’ve had from that pack is the Apollo.

That reminds me that my wife never completed my order for Xperience because I hadn’t told her what to add to the cart for free shipping. I’ll have to complete that.

Bourbon pecan chocolate pie for the hands-down win. I would crush that and defer anything else for the Thanksgiving experience.
