Me and SWMBO finally got around to watching Top gun Maverick. Wow, that’s one of the best movies I’ve seen in a while. It definitely lived up to the hype. That opening scene had me hooked.

It’s back as you were with Man City failing to consolidate their fleeting stint atop the table.  While Newcastle are drifting, Man Utd have rallied to third. Down the bottom five teams are contesting three relegation spots and there’s no guarantee others won’t be drawn in - especially as Dyche continues to petrify Everton towards safety.

Eyes down, here we go;

Tonight 

Fulham v Wolves, an honourable mention to the hosts who last week went to the Filthy Seagulls and did not buy their con job of pretending to be good, taking the points late on.  Their guests had built steam recently but last week’s abject capitulation to fellow struggles Bournemouth is not a good sign. 2-0

Saturday

Everton v Villa, the visitors had been inching towards comfort but two defeats - especially the mauling last week by Arsenal, has burst their bubble. The Toffees are a different proposition under Dyche but you would bet your farm on them. Even so, 1-0

Leeds v Southampton, bottom two face off for the title of ‘worst team tight now’.  Leeds are still all over the place while Saints pulled a win from nowhere against the Chelseas odd-bods. A very emotional Elland Road will provide a ferocious setting for this one - but can the players rise to that? 1-1

Leicester v Arsenal, The Foxes are back to losing ways while the Gunners found their mojo for a big comeback win en route to the top.  Same this time 0-2

West Ham v Forest, The Hammers are tepid and stolid, back in the  bottom 3 with few glimmers of hope on the the horizon.  Forest are tricky customers and will prove too much. 1-2

Bournemouth v Man City, should be an academic away win but City are either outstanding or very mediocre.  0-2

Palace v Liverpool, well this is timely. The mighty Eagles have become draw specialists recently but all  against teams higher and in better form. The Reds are welcomed at Selhurst as we seem to give them the jitters, or capitulate horribly.  Our guests briefly hit form in the league, but got smashed mid-week by Real Madrid. 2-2

Sunday

Spurs v Chelsea, some crazy maths magic is going on because Spurs are 4th and Chelsea 10th despite both being completely unreliable. It could go wither way but Chelsea are the least steady and so 2-1

Post script : Man Utd and Newcastle are playing an unremarkable cup final, so PL action for them.

Have you declared victory in the air war against balloons yet?

A little breakfast. Diced up some Yukons and fried them up with the cold oil method.

Cold oil method ? Start in cold oil and slowly cook then fry ?

@lkapigian , yeah, just room temp canola oil (had some clean oil still in the pot from the other day), throw your diced yukon golds in, turn burner on high, then let them go until golden. About 20-25 minutes. Not greasy in the least. Spin on cooks illustrated method for French fries. I might like them diced more than cut into fries.

I like that approach, I’ll have to give it a try.  Certainly minimizes the potential for splattering hot oil, something I always seem to manage to do.

I think spiders should pack their webs up at the end of the season, it’s really irresponsible to leave them all over the place when they aren’t being used.

Upon further review, I believe that the play stands as called.  Better to be the above ground vehicle right there.
