Just got done helping my little sister fix and secure her backdoor.  Her house was broken into and robbed while they were on vacation.  Waiting over 4hrs for police to show up.  The police in her city are a meme.  Dead body or active shooter is all they show up for.

At least her house is secure tonight.

Yeah pretty ****.  She went away with her fiance for a long weekend before she starts her new job tomorrow.

Stole both their computers and a bunch of other stuff. Random mix of stuff.  Some heirlooms were stolen while others right next to it were not taken. I know the thief isn't a cook though.  Left all the good cast iron and sous vide.They have video of it all.

That sucks Ozzie. Hopefully the video was able to capture a good enough image to find the culprits and hang them from their little toe for an hour or so. Then cart them off to jail.

a c-clamp and some silicon should do the trick.....doesnt take much to break a door

That screen door deadbolt needs to be secure.  A 12 year old kid could kick through that particle board (looks like interior) door.

Yup, the metal door was secured, but the large cutout right next to the deadbolt that allows you to reach through and unlock it from the outside was a design glaw.

That door isn't worth saving.  Basically cardboard.

Agree on how the thief knew they were gone.  Based on items stolen it seemed targeted, or just trying to assign reason to a meth head.

when ever my neighbors head to florida, i secure the wooden door and use the metal one. he is not allowed in the house when they are gone now but if i see him i have the parents on speed dial to call the station. its almost always someone you know

That happened to me twice in my apartment days. I moved since the method(booting the door and using my pillow case to carry small items like my change jar) were identical. Almost certainly a neighbors kid .

That sucks.  Unless it is targeted attack, burglaries are usually always a hodgepodge of things. Depending on the laptop, maybe it can be tracked. 

Not sure how big of a place your sister lives, but four or more hours can be pretty typical. Although it is sh!tty to say, it’s a report call. Calls are out on a priority basis and reports are at the bottom. It sticks for the victims, but
