Thanks and I would say that stakes are pretty high.  Good luck to the team making the final call as I'm sure at that point there is no real difference amongst the candidates.
At least you've got NYC on the horizon as long as you don't follow Pete's recent insights.  =)

I hope you sent those boards back.  None of that looks cooked.

Did @Legume ever reveal what was wrong with his water heater? If I remember right the blow off valve was weeping.
It's buried in a sunk thread, but it was the main pressure reducing valve for the house.  There are two, one for inside and one for outside hose bibs and irrigation.  The inside failed and I never took an inside pressure reading (I didn't realize the hose bibs were with the irrigation).  I had 165 or 170 psi in the house for a few weeks and somehow managed to not have anything in the house or walls blow.  I was very lucky.
Wow thanks for the update, glad you figured it out.

I bet those showers felt amazing!  Glad you solved it before disaster struck.

Didn’t know (or remember?) about your tinnitus. Not surprising given your musical background. I think I’ve made out pretty okay on that front thus far, but my leaf ear will regularly develop a persistent “thump” if I’m exposed to too much loud noise. Too many years with my ear pointed at a silver face Twin Reverb.

  • Somehow, reference to Rick MoreAnus seems very apropos here.

    Thanks for the nostalgia.

While I didn’t visit them regularly as a kid, on family road trips down the Eastern coast of the U.S. when I was growing up, it was a bit of a tradition to have dinner at a Pizza Hut on the first night, to make the kids happy.

We also had a Pizza Hut in the town I grew up in. The one time I remember being there, my father noticed a garbage can emanating a flame from across the room and walked it out to the parking lot. I guess someone had thrown a still-smouldering cigarette butt in the garbage. He hardly got so much as a “thank you” from staff.
  • my Pizza Hut didn’t make it through Corona. Too bad the waitress had 34 years of experience there. She would see my car pull in and have my drink and table ready before I could get in the door.
  • @WeberWho - my memories of the Hut from when I was a kid are that the pizza was pretty good too.   They were the first to offer a pan pizza if I recall.

Now looking back I wonder if it was actually all that good.  It’s been more than 30 years for me but I still feel like I’d recognize the smell of the place.

Man, talk about a trip down memory lane. As a fat kid the Book-It program was all the motivation I needed.

Your second paragraph has me smiling. That’s great. The pandemic wasn’t easy on musicians in that sense. Please keep me posted on where this takes you, if only to hear that you’re playing regularly and having some fun.
