Didn’t know (or remember?) about your tinnitus. Not surprising given your musical background. I think I’ve made out pretty okay on that front thus far, but my leaf ear will regularly develop a persistent “thump” if I’m exposed to too much loud noise. Too many years with my ear pointed at a silver face Twin Reverb. -

This Pizza Hut used to be thee place to go and eat when we were kids. It was a few minutes away from the amusement park we'd get to go and visit once a summer. Lots of memories in the good ole Pizza Hut as a kid but I don't think I've stepped foot in one since I was 12 years old. Funny thing is my wife and I bought our house maybe 3-4 miles from this particular Pizza Hut my family used to visit. We've been here 12+ years and we've never made it in. I honestly didn't even know if they still had a dine in option as the parking lot is always empty. For the last 2-3 months I've had an itch to go back in and check it out. Out of nowhere my wife says, "Do you want to go to Pizza Hut tonight?" I took it as a sign as I never mentioned anything about it. So Pizza Hut it was.
A flood of memories came back after walking in. I believe these are the same hanging lights they had when I was as a kid.
They didn't have the salad bar as I remember but they still have Book It! (That was all the rage when we were kids)
The pizza wasn't as good as I remember it being as a 12 year old kid but it was somewhat edible.
I have to admit it was kind of crazy sitting down in a Pizza Hut and eating pizza again. I almost felt like a kid again. That was until they handed me the bill....

@WeberWho
Thanks for the nostalgia.
While I didn’t visit them regularly as a kid, on family road trips down the Eastern coast of the U.S. when I was growing up, it was a bit of a tradition to have dinner at a Pizza Hut on the first night, to make the kids happy.We also had a Pizza Hut in the town I grew up in. The one time I remember being there, my father noticed a garbage can emanating a flame from across the room and walked it out to the parking lot. I guess someone had thrown a still-smouldering cigarette butt in the garbage. He hardly got so much as a “thank you” from staff. -
my Pizza Hut didn’t make it through Corona. Too bad the waitress had 34 years of experience there. She would see my car pull in and have my drink and table ready before I could get in the door.

@WeberWho - my memories of the Hut from when I was a kid are that the pizza was pretty good too. They were the first to offer a pan pizza if I recall.
Now looking back I wonder if it was actually all that good. It’s been more than 30 years for me but I still feel like I’d recognize the smell of the place."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike -

And an unexpected tangent: a week ago I visited the local hobby shop, to look at airbrushes. When I left, I noticed the "Guitar Center" next door, and decided to walk thru. I asked an older clerk where their "Musicians Wanted" bulletin board was, they had one but it only had "Musicians Who Want Jobs" posts, I guess most of that stuff has gone online now (and I was only looking for a local, weekly jam session, to have something to do). That clerk and I started chatting, and 30 minutes later he had my phone number. Never heard a thing for a week, until yesterday; next weekend, I've got an audition with an R&B band, the 3 tunes are What is Hip?, After the Love is Gone, and some Aretha Franklin tune (clerk couldn't remember which one). That band only rehearses once a week, and gigs once or twice a month, which would be perfect for me, but ToP and EW&F are kinda beyond my skill zone; we'll see. I also just realized that my new Taco truck doesn't have the cap that my old Taco had, so that'll be a ~$700 expense right off the top (to safely haul my gear).
Not looking for this audition to result in a job offer, but rather to get my name out there again (it's been 14 years) and see what comes up.___________"When small men begin to cast big shadows, it means that the sun is about to set."

Your second paragraph has me smiling. That’s great. The pandemic wasn’t easy on musicians in that sense. Please keep me posted on where this takes you, if only to hear that you’re playing regularly and having some fun. -
