Actually it’s for work, so I’m flying solo.  I’ll see plenty of old friends once there however.

Don’t get too wild; you don’t want this to be the work trip you get Canned on.

Enjoy.  Once had a co-worker from that region.  She taught me that Pastis is not just a drink, it's a way of life!

@MasterC curious as to the internal temp when it "popped" as I remove when prepping the bird.  My bet is "too high" but I could be wrong as I hope I am.

Lovely part of the world.  We have stayed in Cannes but a few of the towns in the Cote d'Azur / Provence area.
You'll be heading to Cap d'Agde beach no doubt?  Just to save weight by not packing any swimwear, of course.  Carbon foot print and all that.
Other girls may try to take me away
But you know, it's by your side I will stay

    A few things;
    1) that is by far the best way to cook turkey
    2) turkey is a bland meat so needs all the hep it can't get
    3) I usually add a few wood chips to infuse a bit of flavour
    4) I spent 90% of my life not knowing you crazy cats deep fry whole turkey

    Sharing's caring.

Don't know why I numbered that.

I hope to make it to the beach at least once, if only for the views ;)

@JohnInCarolina - hope a warming trend rolls in with your trip.  Gotta get maximum beach participation for view enhancement.
Better to be lucky than good any day right there.

I was going to help my buddy shovel snow at 3am this morning. I was happy to see him change it to a 6am start time. It's 45 minute drive to his shop and I'd have to leave at 7am for my actual job. I was happy to see that text about 2am this morning saying it was still snowing.

Just did half my driveway. This is my least favorite variety of snow. Wet and heavy. C'mon spring!

Working hard my friends. Building the Shenzi subsea flow line. In a few weeks it will be laying on the bottom of the Gulf 👍

How do you get it out there? Float it and put a flag on the end?

Do you see that ship sitting about a mile away? It will roll up on giant spools like a water hose. I know that sounds unbelievable. But that’s how it is done.

They wind it up on a big spool I believe.

I read something about the Perdido platform - it's in around 10k feet of water.  The risers from the sea bed to the rig weight around 50 tons each and there are 22 wells....too much weight.  So they branch them on the seafloor and consolidate the risers (pipes to the surface).  Also, 1500 hp pumps on the ocean floor are needed to push the oil up to the surface.

Getting hammered by thunder storms and wondering how long my lights/electricity will be on.  Here in the fly-over country it can be problematic.
But whatever, it's not like experienced when the remnants of hurricane Ike rolled thru (fall 2008) land left the juice off for 8+ days.  Generator to salvage the important stuff but not an auto -start rig.
Still on as evidenced by this post.
