Well I had to do something. There was a pellet pooper down the block chugging along most of the day. I walked outside in the still cold air and recognized the smell immediately. Within 2 seconds my eyes zeroed in on it. Away I went to the old house to gather my arsenal.

@nolaegghead. I appreciate it. Let me reach out to my carving mentor tomorrow. I might be able to use the knee .. not sure if wood is same characteristics as the root.
I know a lot of the traditional Cajun masters specified the root



Started working on a pair of ducks for the upcoming Ward World Decoy Championship . This will be last picture until the end of April when it’s over . I wish I had progressed enough to compete at the Champion Shooting Rig level just to run with the big dogs . VS open (amateur level).. my carving has progressed since my last attempt.. going to do my damnedest to push myself and win this one

there is Rumor / major concern this will be the last year it’s held due to B.S. politics at the university.

@GrateEggspectations -that display is several orders of magnitude better than a place outside of San Diego where, if you walked in with a tie, they would cut it off (with certain exceptions). 

Those have been full out volunteered to become unencumbered and flowing in the breeze.

Getting dirty cleaning the egg. Time to pull the firebox and get that pesky ash build up in the back. Replaced the base under warranty about 3-4 months ago, always holding my breath when I brush out all the ash and inspect the base. All good for wings tonight.

Cured Egg Yolks -an amazing condiment, about a weeks cure ( man down in the lower right )





Cured Tenderloin-Lonzino -this will cure a week then hang to dry

Frank, that wouldn't have been the Acapulco Inn (The AI, as it was known) on 2nd street in Long Beach, would it?  I'm sure there were many that did that, cut them off and staple them to the wall and ceiling beams.

@Legume - It was a small chain called Pinnacle Pete's on the east side of SD, Santee, CA.  And that was a few decades ago.
