  • I tried to install a cook top for my in-laws. The old one was 32” and the new 30” unfortunately no one makes a 32” and a 36” would be eating into the drawer space so hopefully they can find a trim kit or something.

This is actually ideal as you just keep driving in until you touch the wall of the garage and then you know you’re in!

  • I have heard of people who hang a tennis ball from the ceiling. You drive in and stop when it touches the windshield. Of course you have to get it parked the first time in order to fasten the cord at the right position on the ceiling.
Parking that close would likely set off my car’s automatic braking system.

My wife brought home some prime rib ground sliders from Sam's Club.

Slider in size I decided to smash them into smash burgers on the Blackstone. Perfect size starting out for smashing.

It's an easy grab for anyone looking for some type of beef to smash.

    Lovely work.
Unless there is already a thread elsewhere, I think we need a deep-dive on the optimum stacking order.

Hey thanks. This was very basic meal. We have a couple nieces staying with us and this meal was put together last second before they went to bed. (My wife had pizza with them late afternoon.) So not much thought was put into the burger itself as they weren't super hungry but needed a little something for dinner. I just wanted to pass along the info about the prime rib sliders being a perfect size to start out with for smashing for anyone on the forum looking for a quick easy meal and belonged to Sam's Club.

I started with frying up some bacon. I smashed the burgers in the bacon grease after the bacon came off. I hit the beef with a salt, pepper, garlic rub and threw on some Colby cheese. The rest of the burger had mayo, Lucky 19 Sweet Lil Devil bbq sauce, and Grillo's pickles. I didn't even saute any onions and jalapenos for the burgers. That's almost a requirement for smash burgers in my opinion. (I didn't even toast the buns. That's how basic and quick this cook was.) I wasn't even going to bother posting the cook but figured I'd pass the info along for some prime rib sliders/smashed burgers for anyone who might be interested.

That’s a great show, @WeberWho … been awhile since I’ve seen it. Love it that they’re all narcissists trying to get under each other’s skin. Their characters are all on point.

    Fire looks awesome.

What is it about crust that some kids and some adults don’t like?  Never understood it. The typical morning aftermath of my kids who refuse to eat the crust off their cinnamon raisin toast. My wife doesn’t care for it either.  I need to start composting.

in the depression era, parents would have beat their kids for doing that

Nailed the foundation right there, for me.  I aim to get a char on the burger for a crispy crust - albeit tough with the narrower smash style.
Absolute bonus when the cheese melts off the sides and crisps up too.
I am strongly pro-pickle, which are strangely divisive over here.
Probably would put the first burger on top of the relish, then bacon over cheese (twice) then pickle, etc.
I can go without onion, but the jalapeño is a nice treat.

**** me.  I keep trying to get up the courage to quit my current job.  Every single day I wonder why I do it.  I have a great opportunity that comes with some fair risk, but the upside is a significant multiples of my current role and doing something I think I would enjoy more.

I am just so comfortable and risk adverse.

That is a good idea.  Need to lay out the plan too.  What does it actually look like?

I did confirm with COBRA I can keep my current health care for 18months.  Just need to pay premiums.  Honestly, healthcare is the only reason I haven't pulled trigger yet.

When I quit drinking in the middle of the pandemic I had a strong urge to quit my job.  Been just over 32 years.  Health insurance is keeping me there.  Plus make hay while the sun is shining.

Extended my workbench to 14 feet long and built a jig to make crown.  Prototype shown.   I’m going to make it long enough where it’s one piece per wall.

Agree with the health aspect completely. I scheduled a cardiologist appointment for first time ever last week. And yup, no pensions.

No need for them to snoop.  I don't play things real close the vest.  I have told a few select people who I know have the ear of leaders and who are on chatting terms.
