May be the strangest dessert I have ever been served. Foster daughter’s 22nd birthday tonight so we went out for dumplings and noodles at our favorite spot. They knew it was her bday (she had a drink and they carded her) so they brought this after our meal. Chocolate mousse bulldog puppy with raspberry filling. It felt weird chopping his little head off but he was delicious.

Unsure how to feel about this. Do you still foster?
    That is a reasonable response.

We have not fostered any others.  This one was in our orbit and needed some emergency intervention like 6 years ago. No way we could have not helped knowing what was going on.  We didn’t know it was going to be a foster situation but that was the best thing to do given the circumstances.
I’ve always thought adoption and fostering are some of the greatest things you can do for society. And on the individual level, you are literally changing someone’s world for the better.

I think I’ll stop at two biological children, but if I was to consider another, I’d have to give serious thought to adopting.
I've spent a lot of time in adoption support groups and heard a lot of the horror stories that show up there. Along with that, year$ in family court and kissing the asses of politicians on committees that could affect my life. This is hardly the norm, but believe me the odds are pretty high for heartbreak. I would say that no one knows what they are getting into when they jump in, but going back to the good old days of orphanages doesn't seem to be the answer. Humans by nature are obsessed with their biological parents no matter how awful they were, and those bio-parents rarely think they should not get to keep what's 'theirs'.

The hog head that keeps on giving. Afraid to show picture of hack saw half way through the skull  =)

Boiled, simmered 10-15m, sleeping in fireless thermal cooker 3-4 hours, repeat 2-3 times.

Returned home from voting.  My polling place is a Baptist Church about 1/2 mile away, they handle two precincts.  50 or so folks in line, took 25 min to complete.  Normally in and out in under 5.

Scored this granite top from the curb.  Freeeee!

    7'6" x 24.5" x 1.25" and heavy as f*ck

So that’s gotta be about 850 pounds??  Yikes!

I have a freebie marble vanity size slab in the basement. Been there for 15 years waiting for inspiration...

Dunno what it weighs.  I think it might fit in my shop kitchen.  Fortunately I have a forklift there.

@kayak - prolly more like 300-310lbs. Still heavy!  3cm granite weighs around 20lbs per Sqft until you get into the hard reds and blacks.  I’ve packed my share of those tops back in the day.
