That is possibly correct, I seem to recall Power Max 1000 but my memory could use one of your Arkansas stones. I do know money was a big issue, so using dedicated MC racing engines was out for us.

Where is all the money coming from? Isn't it insane that normally in the face of a pandemic and potential economic collapse, people would save their money because of the unknown?fishlessman said:ColtsFan said:ColtsFan said:Just listed the Condo for sale. its a good place to hide from the pandemic if you are hit hard by the pandemic in a big city. people want out of the city. the last seller waited three years to get it sold and it went a little over half her asking price, that was about 5 years ago and she took a beating.

Houses selling fast here too. Rural area but decent train links to London if needed. Businesses here are still being supported, while people are working at home or at home on Government money. Extra disposable income, plus there's a tax break on property short term. Govt furlough ends soon, when unemployment arrives things will correct quickly.fishlessman said:Mark_B_Good said:

As someone with almost 20 years of working with airports and airlines, I can tell you that this is mostly true depending on how you define "tax dollars."Botch said:Supposedly No tax dollar were used for it (heh).
There are three main sources of funding for airport construction projects like this.
1) FAA's Airport Improvement Program (AIP). This is a federal grant program that is funded through aviation user fees. Largest sources of funding for this is a tax that the passenger pays when they buy their airline tickets or when a aircraft owner buys fuel.
2) Passenger Facility Charge (PFC). Airports at their individual discretion can choose to charge a PFC that is basically put into a savings account for future construction/renovation projects. Airports who charge PFCs charge them to passengers, but the actual fee is collected by the airline and then paid from airline to airport. There is a federal cap on the maximum PFC that airports can charge per ticket, and the airports want them raised but airlines do not want raised, as any increase in price decreases demand. In the current environment, no chance in hell PFC gets increased.
3) Airport rates & charges and bonds against future revenues. Airports are required to be basically self-sustaining non-profit organizations. They cannot incur a loss, as if they do the airlines/tenants have to make up for it. The airports collect landing fees from airlines, and charge terminal rent for airlines, rent a car providers, concessions providers, etc. While the rates and charges are generally to cover operational costs only, airports can issue bonds against future revenues. The interest they pay on this gets rolled back into the rates and charges. At a hub airport like SLC, they definitely negotiated with Delta and other tenents on a rate increase to cover all of this. So, in other words, get ready for the price of your air fares and your pre-flight Whopper to go up.
So, it is true that no federal, state, or local tax money collected through the general fund has gone into a project like this. But if you have ever bought an airline ticket, your local airport and the federal government has collected taxes/fees from you that have been put to this project.

I love this forum. Where else on the interwebs can you get a lesson in airport economics, learn how to cook a brisket, discuss proper shaving techniques, and get ripped a new one for your political beliefs all in one place?Boileregger said:
