Good news on the Canadian travel restrictions. I was thinking last night Branson and Bezos are going to outer space but we can't go to Canada.

Cookoffs are finally getting going where I am, got entered into the first one for Sept 5th , Linda is not fond of that event as it is still quite hot here, I told her, No worries, we have a generator and portable cooler, she says " There is no place there to plug the generator into "

Wondering how I'm going to smoke a brisket made from beets when all the meat is gone. lol

That’s easy. You will simply smoke it on your windmill powered smoker. Problem solved 👍EzraBrooks said:Wondering how I'm going to smoke a brisket made from beets when all the meat is gone. lol

Never had the stuff but until it is indistinguishable from real meat and at the same price point or lower I won't be buying it. All the reviews I've read say it's obvious it's not real meat no matter how much they want you to think it is. I'm pretty sure that won't ever happen. There is zero way to make a friggin beet taste like wagyu beef. Sorry ain't gonna happen.EzraBrooks said:Wondering how I'm going to smoke a brisket made from beets when all the meat is gone. lol

Traveling done, ball done for the season, kids activities wrapped up for the summer, so just relaxing after a swamped last 2 months. Planning a brisket cook for next weekend for my first smoke in a couple months - correction - outside of making some bacon. Hope you all are having a good summer. Took the kids camping a couple weeks ago, found a baby snapper on the road, followed by an 8 day trip to see family that was a blast. My son got to harvest his first wheat riding with my dad, pond fishing on the same pond I did growing up, ATV rides, 4-wheeler rides, and enough ice cream to last us a month.

@FarmingPhD - Great way to enjoy summer right there. Definitely making life-long memories.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint.

Smoked a brisket over alder earlier turned out to be the juiciest one yet. Stalled at 155F wrapped in butcher paper to 195F then 30 mins unwrapped for some extra bark. Wrapped again and rested for two hours. Made for some outstanding panini dinner.

About to get my workout on

I’m about to get my daily workout on too. Now that I am older I like to do a good warmup as not to overexert or hurt myself. Started out light with a few reps of chargrilled oysters. I then increased the intensity a little with some cheese grits. Then I got serious with a peacemaker poboy. Overall I consider it a decent workout for a man my age. Who knows, tomorrow I might try going a little heavier.JohnInCarolina said:About to get my workout on

@SGH, you might add some 12 ounce curls to round out the workout. You know, for total fitness.
