Serious question here: why would wings tumbling in a basket somehow cook better than wings on a grid that you flip over? I can’t bring myself to come around to the idea that a spinning chicken or prime rib (or wings in this case) really produce such a different result that would require me to own, maintain, and most importantly clean a while other cooking setup. I still kind of want one but I can’t connect the dots on what it would actually do to make things better.Boileregger said:Just had the best wings I have ever had in my life. The big Father’s Day meal with the kids was yesterday. Today it was just me and my wife.We had fried fresh squash with chipotle aioli, and a cheese board with cheeses the kids brought me. My gift was a new apron.

I can't explain it. Could just be my inadequacy as a cook with the grid. On the other hand, when I cook on the grid I flip every 15 or 20 minutes. The basket flips about every 30 seconds. Cleanup is easy as spit and basket go in the dishwasher. I regret a few purchases, the Joetisserie and basket are not one of those. The Cen-Tex Smoker said:

Happy Fathers Day y’all.
Enjoyed my day with the family and finished off with pork chops and poutine.
Stay safe friends.

I think there is something to be said about the self basting aspect. It also gets the exterior pretty evenly. I wouldn't say it's a gimmick or a game changer. Cleanup is a breeze as long as it fits in the dishwasher. I have to brush off some crusties after, but that's it.The Cen-Tex Smoker said:

No sir, I am not. I am no one. But there is an old saying that in my experience proves true. “Ask and so shall ye receive.” I have never minded asking.keener75 said:

I can’t explain the science behind it. But the spinning chicken is the best I have ever made. I have never been able to get chicken skin like this with any other method..Boileregger said:

Dialing in to the more pedestrian nature of this thread after the well deserved euphoria as something just went right:
Reverse sear (close enough) and caveman for the finish 24 oz Creekstone prime rib eye steak.
Warming up.
Must have been the camera!! But you get the idea.
Money shot. Thanks for looking. It was great despite the over-hyped thickness. (TWSS). Happy Father's Day!

Picnic shoulder seasoned overnight with salt, sugar and baking powder; spun for 7 hours. Swmbo prep greens, sticky rice, chimichurri sauce and Thai chili vinegar sauce.
Rind not crispy due to inch thick of fat that self bastes constantly. Used torch to blister rind but it was hard to control charring. Still good eat.

Not sure why I found this so funny, but I did.

Looking at the harvest from the garden I planted for Dad. Blueberries have slowed down to about a quart or two a day. Squash and cucumbers are doing well. Plus there are a minimum of 30 of these.

@SGH The oysters look good. My daughter brought me some on Saturday when she came to visit. We roasted them in the wood oven. I think they are a special treat. I wish they were more readily available here.Coleman, Texas

@The Cen-Tex Smoker that is a great achievement on his part and you and TFJ get the credit for showing him the way and encouraging the skill set.
I guess my legacy with my oldest is bourbon, beer and the ability to run a strong string of curse words together without taking a breath.
