  • Just had the best wings I have ever had in my life.  This color is before sauce.  The Joetisserie is worth it for the wings alone.  Crispy skin and falling off the bone.
Serious question here: why would wings tumbling in a basket somehow cook better than wings on a grid that you flip over? I can’t bring myself to come around to the idea that a spinning chicken or prime rib (or wings in this case) really produce such a different result that would require me to own, maintain, and most importantly clean a while other cooking setup. I still kind of want one but I can’t connect the dots on what it would actually do to make things better.

I can't explain it.  Could just be my inadequacy as a cook with the grid.  On the other hand, when I cook on the grid I flip every 15 or 20 minutes.  The basket flips about every 30 seconds.  Cleanup is easy as spit and basket go in the dishwasher.  I regret a few purchases, the Joetisserie and basket are not one of those.

I think there is something to be said about the self basting aspect. It also gets the exterior pretty evenly. I wouldn't say it's a gimmick or a game changer. Cleanup is a breeze as long as it fits in the dishwasher. I have to brush off some crusties after, but that's it.

No sir, I am not. I am no one. But there is an old saying that in my experience proves true. “Ask and so shall ye receive.” I have never minded asking.

I can’t explain the science behind it.  But the spinning chicken is the best I have ever made. I have never been able to get chicken skin like this with any other method..

Looking at the harvest from the garden I planted for Dad. Blueberries have slowed down to about a quart or two a day. Squash and cucumbers are doing well. Plus there are a minimum of 30 of these.

@SGH The oysters look good. My daughter brought me some on Saturday when she came to visit. We roasted them in the wood oven. I think they are a special treat. I wish they were more readily available here.

Now that WAYDRN has risen - thanks again @The_Buffalo -  doing St. Louis Ribs per @YukonRon

Added a small chunk of peach wood before putting these on indirect.

Settled in at 225 for the last hour. Smells awesome.

@The Cen-Tex Smoker   that is a great achievement on his part and you and TFJ get the credit for showing him the way and encouraging the skill set.

I guess my legacy with my oldest is bourbon, beer and the ability to run a strong string of curse words together without taking a breath.  =)
