i wasnt clear, its canned brown bread, either B&M or make it. bean suppers in new england and town events like old homes day used to make it along with the beans cooked in the ground like sgh's lost brisket

Saw a video yesterday for making cornbread by Cowboy Kent Rollins. He fried up a bunch of bacon in a DO, mixed the batter with sweet peppers and crumbled chicharones, (sp?), left the bacon grease in the DO to fry the batter, and sprinkled the bacon on top. I added some items to my next grocery run...___________

My mother used to serve canned brown bread. She would cut the end off a large can and fill-er-up with home made batter. Into the oven with the earthenware pot of baked beans. Pretty yummy. I don't know where the idea of a round loaf came from. She was a good cook, and everything was from scratch. I didn't wee a box of cake mix until I went to college.XL BGE in San Jose, CA. Also a Pit Barrel Cooker, a Cal Flame P4 gasser, and lots of toys including the first ever Flame Boss 300 in the wild. And a new Flame Boss 500.

For all of those who registered dissatisfaction about me missing the midweek games - your correspondence has been passed to the complaints department. And will be ignored. Anyone who failed to notice the matches, like I did, they were all draws more or less. OK, back to the future - here we go;
Saturday
Palace v Liverpool, big Jurgy is furious that he cant use unlimited substitutes per match or in other words “it’s so unfair that we are champions” Palace have avoided defeat in the last 3. Ominous. 0-2 and business as usual.
Southampton v Man City, Saints remain strong while City have stumbled recently. Could be an entertaining encounter, the hosts will be keen to sustain their lofty status. 2-2
Everton v Arsenal, sub-optimal timing for Arteta to revisit Goodison Park. The Gunners have gone red card bonkers, they can’t keep 11 on the pitch and it’s widely suspected none of them have the stomach for a relegation fight. Home win 3-1 and the axe is being sharpened.
Newcastle v Fulham, Toon fans are thrilled because the team got walloped by Leeds mid-week. That justifies their apoplexy towards manger Steve Bruce. That’s how football fans think. No joy here for Stevie B even if they win, which is probable. 1-0 and awful to watch.
Stoke v Blackburn, the Potters are a brooding presence just outside the top 6 and their guests this week aren’t doing bad either. Should be a good match. 2-1
Sunday
Brighton v Sheff Utd, relegation flirts meet the defeat enthusiasts. The Blades have the worst start in PL history safely tucked away in their trophy cabinet and the filthy Seagulls claim to be misunderstood because they play wonderful football but don’t get the results they deserve. Pillocks. Heart says away win, head says bore draw. 1-1 after a Blades early goal and then a last minute hotly disputed penalty equaliser.
Spurs v Leicester, Jose is right grumpy about being mugged late on by a far from compelling Liverpool in midweek. He won’t want any more of that malarky and it’s not certain which Leicester will turn up. Despite their 4th place, they have been hit & miss. The bus will be parked and Spurs will inch it 1-0.
Man Utd v Leeds, in other times this match would be the absolute star atop the tree. Big and deep seated rivalry but the absence of fans will obviate that. Bizarrely Ole’s lads are undefeated in 5 and keep finding a way to win. Leeds are bonkers, their games yielding almost 4 goals each. 3-2 home win.
West Brom v Aston Villa - look who’s back, yes he’s back, back again ….. It’s pint of wine fan and football Red Adair, Sam Allardyce. Enigmatic chewing gum exponent Big Sam and mini-me sidekick Little Sam (Google it) have been installed at not very good West Brom. That’s a task right up his strasse. Very much Boing Boing Baggies from now on. Watch them draw their way to safety from here. The Villa will have different views. A bit too soon for even a dead-cat bounce (cheeky @nolaegghead Schrodinger reference there) 1-2.
Monday
Burnley v Wolves, the hosts have finally woken up and the visitors are still wobbly. 1-0 as Dyche continues his regression the mean.
Chelsea v West Ham, east end boys meet west end, er - boys. Not quite the Pet Shop Boys derby then. Super Frank’s Chelsea have lost their way recently. The Hammers wont be in the mood for giving and can leap-frog their upmarket neighbours. But is a hard fought 2-1.
There you go - pick the bones out of that lot. Cast iron guarantees all of them. Chin Chin.

Worth your time. Fascinating.
Edit: you'll need to pull it up on Twitter to get the full explanation. Sorry.

Put three chuck roasts on the XL this morning:
After about 4 hours in the smoke I panned them with some white onion, yellow bell pepper, peperoncinos, and some beef broth:
I just pulled the beef, combined the contents of both pans and now it's back on to simmer for a bit.

Two packs of thighs resting. Eating a little chicken nugget to power through cleaning the grate. Worked on removing old tree stump remnants earlier and I’ll be damned it wasn’t half petrified to stone. Too close to house to grind. Has anyone ever seen an old cabin, house or deck with an old stump as part of the foundation? Never made sense until today.
