Better to be lucky than good-great score.  Congrats.

I haven't been able to get a bottle of buffalo trace locally in over a year.
I can walk into any store in my neck of the woods and buy it. I would be more than happy to send you some.

Should you get into sending bourbon, use UPS as the interstate shipping by non professionals is illegal.  If you go with USPS and get found out they could be A'holes and make an issue.  If you get busted by UPS, someone just enjoys the shipment.  FWIW-

Wow that is very generous of you. I could probably chase some down in Columbus. I have two liquor stores 15 miles north or south of the house and they are both in Kroger’s. They guy to the north used to stash the good stuff under the cash register but he got promoted.

@SciAggie - thank you!  We usually make some kind of soup at least once a week this time of year.  Usually I’m using leftover protein. Today I just wanted what I wanted and cooked a chicken just for soup.

Buffalo trace is $27/bottle here and readily available. Eagle rare 10 is almost always sold out.

My furnace is making scary noises. Guy came and said it needs replacing. Not totally sure I believe him since he applied the hard sell so another opinion comes tomorrow.

  • Annual Bourbon run (gifts) over the weekend. Store 1 sold out of all Buf Trace but had a Weller Special Reserve (green) $25 750 behind the counter. Store 2 had tons of Buf Trace 750’s for $25 (limit 6) and 1L for $30 (limit 1).  Store 3 had a couple 750s Buf Trace and the sticker on the shelf said $50. I did a triple take and it looked like $50 for the 750 but it had to have been an old 1.75 sticker or something as a mistake. Small store closest to me has been selling 1L Buf Trace for $40 (equivalent of a $30 750).

I like Buffalo Trace as a daily pour.  I don't think it has any hype around here-just a decent drink at the price point.  I was in the above queue ( a once a year event) to see if I could get one of their other offerings.  My targets were EH Taylor, Eagle Rare or Weller's. Struck out.
I like some EH Taylor, I luckily can walk into the small state owned liquor store here in Utah and find stuff like that 9/10 times they do charge an excessive premium here and you don’t get a ton of selection but they have some nice pours.

Tell me more about the Jefferson ocean.  I want to try it but the stores here only have small batch.  What I have seen online is it’s pretty reasonably priced.

I liked the Jefferson Ocean, I’m far from an expert, but I thought it was smooth. I’m sure you could find it if you took a drive over to Mesquite and hit up Lee’s Liquor.

  • Just having a date day with wifey. Lazy morning while the kids are at school/childcare, then off to hit up a store or two and have a nice lunch out (both physically distanced, of course), before coming home to have happy hour and prepare a restaurant-ordered meal. These are some of my very favourite days.

Thanks for the reminder! I’m actually just a few blocks from there and just checked their hours. Unfortunately, not open for lunch!! Will have to keep that one in mind. Also checked on Foolish Chicken, but they’re also closed over lunch. Might have to hit our old standby Chez Lucien, which was “our place” when we first started dating 18 years back.

Every Southerner I know puts sugar in their cornbread and then lies about it.

I've been married for 35 years. For that ENTIRE time if I make cornbread she will ask me, "Did you remember to add a Tbsp of sugar?" Every blessed time...
She knows I wouldn't do it except she likes it.

I was just mocking the video.  I could take it or leave it with cornbread.   Zero F*cks to give if you put sugar in it or not.
