Probably not quite as embarrassing as not understanding the difference between “your” and “you’re” as a grown man.

    Pants are mandatory.   UNCONSTITUTIONAL!
Yes. If you allow a hundred thousand people roam around without pants all over the country, it would be unconstitutional for you to at the same time arrest of fine others for the same behavior. DERP!

Pete's willful ignorance and disbelief in science is the kind of thinking that is part of the reason we have more Americans dead from this pandemic in 5 months than we have had Americans die in all wars combined since WWII.
I thought it was guys like you that preach to all the others but routinely break the rules and put others at risk while wringing you’re hands. You sir are a documented case of someone not following the guidance. The funny part is that you are the one that brought this to our attention. Shop time. Working on cars with buddies. Cook outs with lots of people there. Fishing trips. Drunken mayhem with Evan at the shop with all the gang. All the while lecturing others about how they should behave. Oh, the shame you bear. It must be embarrassing.
I have a "pod" of people, maybe half a dozen, I will occasionally hang out with, but I have not been to a restaurant or bar since the initial lockdown.  Have not been to the office in 5 months.  Rarely go to the store, and when I do I wear a mask.  And I socially distance myself from these people.

You can find the videos.  I never said I think Covid is a myth.  I agree with lousubcap, trying to discuss anything on this site other than egg related topics devolves into insults & trash talk.  I’ve been guilty of it.  We all have.  I don’t think any of us are going to change the others mind.  I wish you guys well.  Good luck.

By the way, you don’t calculate risk of death by taking the percentage of the *total population* who have died.  You need to use the number of people *infected* in the denominator.
Telll me again just how many have been infected? Is it ten million more than the official count? Is it 100 million more than the official count? Is it an accurate count? I noticed that none of the usual suspects answers any of the questions posed with the exception of where Johns kids go to school, but rather they just call you stupid. Well done.

Tell me again why anyone here should engage you in good faith?  You didn’t come in here to discuss the podcast - you dismissed it as drivel, without even listening to it!  You’re just in here throwing rocks, and the sad thing is you have no idea how much you’re embarrassing yourself in the process.

    Good day, sir.
You once again don’t answer any tough questions because either the answers embarrass you or you realize they don’t fit your perspective. That’s all.

I continue to be impressed by the certainty with which the experts have and continue to be catastrophically wrong though. equally impressed at the willingness for people to follow the advice of said experts without any simple critical thought.

Good day to you also, Sir!!😂
I think the problem is that some people expect certainty from predictions.  If we had a pandemic every few years, I could see how we could maybe expect to be better at this.   But they’re very rare and this is a new to us virus, these are complex biological systems.  So, I don’t think it’s as much about being right vs wrong, it’s about risk management and not being too wrong in the wrong direction (eg bad outcomes).  It also means that you have to continuously assess and adjust your strategy.

As with most things, we take measured risks but we try to err on the side of safety.

Why is that so unacceptable here?

Economy?  If we had taken a conservative, disciplined approach, school and bar reopening may not have been the hot topic it is today.  But here we are.  Arguing about counting and taking the bait when the president says our scientists have been wrong about some things, clearly not understanding the situation.
No its all Trumps fault he should have known exactly what to do
I don't think it's all Trump's fault or even that anyone here is suggesting that it is.  But there do appear to be some folks here who are unwilling to accept that mistakes were made, that the government should have known better, and that there are many other Western countries who serve as a daily reminder of what could have been.
I have seen certain members blame it on Trump. I agree he didnt help much but even the so called experts have been flopping back and forth on protocol. Its a bad situation to be in and im not going to pretend I know the answer. Being so far left to blame it all on Trump is just as bad as being so far right and not wanting to wear masks. To get to that extreme you arent even listening anymore youve chosen you stance.
Who here has said that it's all Trump's fault?

I only read the faux news (tho I wish I knew where those apparently secret sources of the "real news" that some folks read are located) but my recollection regarding the mask thing early in this mess was that the recommendation was not to wear masks for a couple of reasons:
1 - disposable masks and improperly fitted N95 masks do little to protect the wearer. That is true.
2 - they didn't want people to panic buy the available stock of masks which would increase the shortage of such gear in the hospitals where personnel there really need them. Despite number one people did still panic buy masks.

Fauci was right about one and two.

Early on there wasn't widespread certainty as to the manner of transmission of the virus - could it be aerosolized or was physical contact (from hand to face for instance) necessary.

Later, we learn that the airborne virus is a thing thus the recommendation was that wearing a cloth mask is useful as it lessens the ability of the wearer to spread a contagion to others. A simple courtesy for the good of all.

Pete, you used "you're" instead of "your".  You had the apostrophe in the right spot, you just used the contraction instead of the possessive.

What I see is someone who can't even properly make up an excuse to cover their own mistakes.  An "Apple glitch".  Good Lord.

By the way, there is an easy way to remember which one is correct.   If you can replace the word with "you are" and it still makes sense, use the contraction.  If not, it's the possessive you want.

Pete, I'm just dog tired of uninformed people spouting info from conspiracy theories and political spin.  Honestly you can do 2 minutes of research and debunk just about every thought you posted here.

It's not helpful and, in fact, it is harmful.

  • John I’m not going to waste my time digging through Ron’s posts to find anything but as much time as you spend on this forum you are well aware of what I’m referring to. It’s not like it just happens every once in a while. Plus I’m sure most of it has been deleted by now. I’ll see myself out now. Like I said before, spend a little less time here arguing with people and a little more time in the community and with your family. Both would appreciate it greatly and it would likely be more satisfying to you as well.

I always love this sort of thing.  People come into these threads, drop a few bombs, and then announce that they'll be stepping away.  So much integrity.

As it happens, I know @YukonRon  well enough in real life to know he does not believe that this pandemic is "all Trump's fault" as you and Lit have asserted.  You guys just read his posts with that lens because that is your own bias that you bring to things, and reading comprehension is difficult.  But rather than asking him what he actually believes and how much of this he holds Trump personally responsible for, you just make assertions and then try and back them up with weak sauce, or ... simply run away.

You must have a better phone than I do cuz mine changes stuff a bit. Sometimes it changes the entire word and not just punctuation. However, I can live with it if you think its important. No biggie.
