Probably because understanding that the virus started in Wuhan isn't terribly helpful to people who currently have pneumonia in say... Lexington... whereas making sure there are enough ventilators at the local hospital actually is.  I'm just spitballing here...

@JohnInCarolina if the US proves that the virus was started in a lab and it was mishandled by the Chinese and the WHO helped cover it up would you agree with cutting the funding?

What if we all stopped playing the blame game and tried to work together to address the problem?  In a way where we learn a lot so that the next time this happens we handle it a lot better?  The current administration has not handled this optimally, but how many of us would have?  On some level, making the right policy decisions required predicting the future with an inadequate dataset.  Most models changed projections this week as new data was added.  Having to make decisions months ago with much less data was challenging to say the least.  I'm in the field and I don't envy those who have to make the tough decisions associated with this pandemic.  From what I can gather, WHO has room for improvement as well.  As does China.  But this is just the beginning of this thing - and like it or not - we're all on the same team.  This is like an airplane flight where we had a rough takeoff and there were multiple opportunities for how it could have gone better.  We still have to collectively fly the plane to the destination and land it with all of us on board.  Having dems and repubs and WHO and China all running around the plane shooting at each other doesn't increase the likelihood of a safe landing.  It significantly decreases it.  And landing is WAY harder than taking off.

Well said. He is campaigning and needs a scape goat to deflect the spotlight on his dismal performance as a leader. 
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure China has done some things wrong but we have way bigger fish to fry right now.

You weren’t asking me.....but.....

Demanding a change in leadership with U.N. support seems much more reasonable than the US abdicating its role as a major player on the world stage. The “shining city on a hill” and all that Jazz seems to be a lost ideal.
