Why does it not surprise me that not once do they mention in this article that Smithfield is owned by the WH Group?YukonRon said:South Dakota Smithfield Meats Plan
Interesting read.
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-52311877It does - cut from the article:Who are Smithfield?
- Largest pork producer in the world
- Founded in Smithfield, Virginia, in 1936
- Owned by Chinese company WH Group Ltd, under its CEO, the billionaire Wan Long
- Over 54,000 employees and $15bn in sales (in 2018)
- Facilities located in Germany, Romania, Mexico, Poland and the UK
- WH Group acquired Smithfield for $4.7bn in 2013, which at the time was the largest acquisition of a US company by a Chinese business

OSHA has established federal guidelines. States that wish to apply more restrictions, open their own offices to support the State Guidelines. They, in effect, are responsible for enforcement.frazzdaddy said:

Capitalism or Socialism?
Many states, such as South Dakota, do not have a state run program. The enforcement comes from the US government.
I believe it not too much of a stretch, in a republican operated state, in lockstep with DC's roll back of EPA and other health and safety rules, that the Federally operated OSHA in South Dakota is not exactly knocking on the front door of big business, staffed with immigrants, interfering with our largest trade partner.
One of the concessions Sonny Perdue sought for his side of the bureaucracy.
Kind of a reason places like this, choose these states to operate in.
Just a hunch. I am usually in the middle of wrong.
If you do not see the corruption with in this administration, there is nothing I can do about that.

Interesting. I read the entire article then went back and skimmed it to see if I missed it the first time through and still didn't notice that. My bad.

Article: "Here’s What We Know about the Most Touted Drugs Tested for COVID-19".....None of the therapies described above have yet been proved to treat COVID-19. But some answers can be expected in the next few weeks and months as the results of clinical trials emerge. Until then, Cortegiani says, “we cannot say, ‘This drug is more promising than the other one.’ We can only say, ‘There is a rationale for it.’”.....LBGE, LBGE-PTR, 22" Weber, Coleman 413GGreat Plains, USA

I made no mention of banks or auto manufacturers. I was making a reference to OSHA having nothing to do with socialism or capitalism. I did however agree with Ron that it is possible with our presidents aversion to oversight that maybe OSHA oversight was held back in this case.Spaightlabs said:

These protesters at the state capitols do realize the reason they are not working is because President Trump failed them in the handling of covid 19, right?
Shouldn't they be in DC?
Trump posting Liberate (name your state here) is as slimy as he has always been. Let him be the first to walk in the Smithfield plant or other CVD19 hot spot and get to work.
Then we will see how much he is behind the liberation/back to work he really is.
