I mean, I know you're not interested in real debate or information because you stole that from Facebook or InfoWars or some such other site, but this is HR 6201, the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, passed by the US House and right off the bat you'll notice it is only 110 pages.NCSmoky said:

The state of New York has given hospitals essentially unlimited power to increase bed capacity and all physicians including resident trainees now are allowed to work unlimited hours. Given that New York implemented physician work hour restriction in the 1980's, long before any other state, this speaks to the dire situation there.
One hospital went from being essentially full to having 15 patients on ventilators lining the hall of their ER with no other place to put them over the past 24 hours.
The idea of "let's just get infected and get this over with for the benefit of the economy" isn't crazy on the surface. But when you dig a little deeper you realize that plan doesn't just involve a bunch of us feeling bad and coughing for a week. It comes with:
- rationing care (anybody who needs a ventilator over age 60 is just put in a corner to die)
- 1000's of deaths in each community (such that there aren't enough body bags or morgue space)
- potential loss of a significant portion of a community's healthcare providers (affecting the ability to provide adequate care after the crisis)
- 1000s of deaths in each community NOT caused by COVID-19, but caused by potentially treatable conditions that become fatal because there are no hospital beds to treat appendicitis, heart attacks, strokes, etc. (Estimates from Italy are that these deaths are similar in number to the COVID-19 deaths... or at least they were when the number of COVID-19 deaths was around 4000)
Our leaders are stuck between rocks and hard places. Many of them will make mistakes or say/write things that aren't optimal. I know what I think is the right thing to do and I'll express that when possible/needed. I would encourage all of you to do the same.
And as I posted before, thanks to all of you for being here. Shouldn’t be surprising that both parties have put forth bills that have unnecessary crap in them and are distasteful to anyone focused on chirping about sides.
When I post something critical of the Grand Cheeto, or the behavior of his current party, know that it’s not a ringing or even a limp endorsement of anything the other f-d up group are doing.

I suspect it's reasonably accurate, but there's a lot of context for the bill itself and the items in it that are missing.NCSmoky said:

If you believe it's accurate, I suppose I wonder why you wouldn't be willing to share the source."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike

I dunno, I went through the page marks and the items listed were in the bill although some of the page numbers were off. I'll admit I haven't read all 1400 pages of the bill but the items in my post are there. I'm not sure what narrative I'm pushing other that pointing out the bulls*t wishlist funding attached to a bill that was intended to help working Americans during a time of crisis.nolaegghead said:NCSmoky said:

So if you're not pushing any narrative, then why the reluctance to share the source? Maybe because the source is pushing a narrative?NCSmoky said:

I'd like to see a bill introduced that keeps all bills on topic. Why is there $35,000,000 for the Kennedy Performing Arts Center in the latest stimulus bill?

Meh, not going to play the semantics game. Appropriations stated in my post are in fact in the bill. The obvious "narrative" is that politicians are using this opportunity to fund horses*t instead of addressing the needs of the nation and their constituents. Have a good day and I genuinely wish the best for you and your family during this crisis.JohnInCarolina said:
