I'm in total shock as I sit here crying over someone I've only had the pleasure of speaking with online. Trying to read the comments to my wife but can't. I so looked forward to meeting face to face but know it'll be on the other side now. Godspeed brother.
My prayers and condolences to the family.

I am still at a loss for more deserving words. Brent was a close friend and I’m heartbroken like the rest of y’all. It’s funny how life meanders and friendships are made through unlikely pathways. Brent and Nicole have never shown anything but love and kindness to my family every time we got together. Just heartbroken. Love you brother, see you on the other side.Slumming it in Aiken, SC.

https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/atlanta/obituary.aspx?n=brent-murphey&pid=193603752He went to Kentucky? Really? Had no idea!My first thought when I heard on Thursday was that he truly wouldn't want us to feel any sadness and would rather have us party hard as a tribute to his wonderful life and amazing qualities as a friend to all. I have to admit, I'm failing miserably at not feeling sad. It's been two days of deep, dark sadness with a few moments of me just laughing thinking about the times at BB '18/'19, the ATL airport fiasco, every single March Madness for the last 7 years,a nd so many other funny memories and stories. The good memories pile up quickly, but always the sadness piles up faster.=======================================

Very saddened to hear the news. I didn't have the opportunity to meet Brent, which is my loss. I wish healing to the BGE brethren who knew him well and especially Dr. Murphy's family. I have said my own silent prayer for all concerned. The one thing that rings clear to me is how beloved this man was. This will likely be Brent's greatest legacy. He was loved dearly by those who knew him well.
I see that more than a few of you have chosen to honor Brent with his avatar. This is a very nice thing to do. I am reminded of the '42' day that major league baseball does to honor the late, great Frank Robinson. Perhaps the forum might consider designating a @bgebrent week where everyone who wishes may pay tribute in this way to Brent? Food for thought. I might also suggest that it be a week of charity in some way, in keeping with what others have shared about Brent's leadership in this area. I'm not sure how all this might go, but just sharing some thoughts after having had a night to sleep on it. It's really for others with more investment in the BGE community to decide.LG BGE, KJ Jr, Smokin Bros. Premier 36 and Pizza Party Bollore -

Not sure how I missed this post, but I am speechless. I considered Brent to be one of the first class experts in this forum and I will miss him and his contributions. My condolences to Brent's family and friends. Will miss ya, brother! See you on the other side where every brisket is smoked to perfection. The problem with a problem is that you don't know it's a problem until it's a problem, and that is a big problem.

Terrible news, and a reminder that we never really know how much time we have.
I got to know @bgebrent at at least one Brisket Camp, and found him to be the same nice “jump right in” sort of guy reflected in this thread.
He was the first one in on Project Torment @Foghorn at BCIV, where we collectively downed an Allagash Belgian before it reached its intended destination in San Antonio.
I am hoping for all the best for his family, and appreciate all the memories you all have shared.(now only 16 stone)

I have been experiencing both a loss....and have been lost since receiving the news. I have not read the post here....and can’t for a bit. I loved the guy and know Nichole and their family has lost an amazing human being. I have lost a great friend.
The picture below is one I took at North GA Eggfest a couple of years ago. Nichole is standing out of the picture holding her name tag in what has been a long running joke about who is really doing the cooking. What a smile the guy had. I have spent some of my best laughs with him in banter. Until football season....I’m a Wildcat too.

I sadly learned of this news not too awfully long ago when my good friend Carey @nolaegghead called me. It blows my mind that Brent has passed away from such a tragic accident. But it does bring me Solace knowing that he enjoyed life & family. He was a very kind person and always a pleasure to talk to. I can't think of anybody that he wasn't pleasant with. He will be missed greatly by me and many others.
Fun fact... The first time I meant Brent & Nicole was at a North Georgia eggfest a few years back. We sat and chatted by the fireplace downstairs at the lodge next to the Fest. Really hit it off with the guy from the very beginning I could tell he was down-to-earth and and wasn't too good for cheap beer. We (Myself, Brent & @piney ) sat and enjoyed a couple of craft beers I had brought from home. Its terrible to see someone go before their time. Brent did such a good job with the time he had. I didn’t know him outside of the forum, but from reading this whole thread, and watching his contribution on the forum, it was obvious he was an awesome person.

I have been on this forum for years and one thing I have always resented about it is what a "boys club" it is. I have a handle that doesn't make it obvious that I am a wife and mother, rather than a dude, and it used to really irritate me that Brent would always refer to me as 'brother'. It was bad enough that I felt left out of the club, but when he just assumed I was a guy, that was preposterous to me. That is, though, until I met him. I was all ready with my indignant attitude- ready with a 'gotcha' and he totally disarmed me with his self deprecating humor and that 'signature smile'- so true! Nichole good heartedly rolling her eyes in the background... Since then I have looked forward to his calling me brother. And he has made a point of it- with a wink and a smile. OK now I'm crying so that's all. Thanks @northGAcock for the message- I am happy to be a part of Brent's boys club, and oh so sad that he is gone.Johns Is, SC

I am just hearing this tragic news on Sunday morning. I feel awful. I never had the pleasure of meeting Brent, but we did message each other. I was invited to his lake house, but I was unable to attend. I really wish I had made it happen. All someone has to do is read the comments posted here to realize that Brent was a wonderful guy that loved life. In every picture I have ever seen of him he was smiling.
He will be missed.Louisville, GA - 2 Large BGE's -
