Well chit this is called devolution. You guys need to change your Depends and STFU. Lots of what you all are harping about are threadworthy but this isn't the place.

If all the forum members here were university professors (I know, a herculean leap), I would estimate over half would lose their university jerbs in the first year.
Holding on to academic positions can be a real challenge.  They don't grant tenure to just anyone, and with good reason.
I've had tenure.  It's overrated when you consider the Dean's tax.
It's certainly overrated at places like the University of Tampa.

No, it's a good point.  This thread is about a huge natural disaster and humanitarian crisis.  Peeps are reporting if they're still alive and how they're doing, where they can get help, etc.

UT is actually a pretty nice LA school.  Idiotic tweets have consequences.

And if that was all this thread was then it would be three pages not nineteen pages methinks.

I really don't expect much compliance but at least I can set a precedent to shame people.

Still a lot of water, but the worst (of the weather at least) is behind us.

I will be back on Friday, and once I get my bearings, will be lending a hand along with thousands of others.  I am greatful that our home stayed dry, and all my family and friends stayed dry as well.
    Thank you and safe travels.

Nope, I'll wade in with my guns blazing but this thread made 15 apolitical pages and I found that impressive.

This wasn't all that political a side discussion, to be frank.  All is fair in love and internetting.

@caliking My best thoughts, wishes, and hopes that you remain safe and dry. Beyond that - scones brushed with maple syrup? Dude, that's brilliant. I'll be stealing that idea. Just brush it on straight from the bottle? Like you would an egg wash?
Thank you. It's been quite a ride, but we have been fortunate.

And yes, just brush it on like a glaze, after baking, and while they're hot. I didn't know what a scone was supposed to taste like until I had one of these.

The recipe is modified from Josey Baker's book. Less sugar and butter, added craisins and dark chocolate .

My SIL and her husband made it through Harvey. I am going to start calling her "Molly Brown," after surviving both Katrina and Harvey.
I can say this about my SIL; She is the only person I know that has had two worse guests in her home than me.
Glad they are fine. She plans to begin helping in the recovery as soon as they get situated themselves.

It's official- we are packing up today and deploying tonight or early am. I started a thread about it so I could keep everyone updated.
Let us know how you find it.  I will be ready to get my hands in something by Sat, and would like to hear how it goes.
