Glad that your daughter made it back ok @Foghorn . She is still welcome anytime.

And I still have mixed feelings about the cat.

At this point she won't need to bring the cat.  I'm thinking I'm just going to monitor your cook posts and send her pics in real time.  She'll swing by just to pic up a "to go" box.

@caliking My best thoughts, wishes, and hopes that you remain safe and dry. Beyond that - scones brushed with maple syrup? Dude, that's brilliant. I'll be stealing that idea. Just brush it on straight from the bottle? Like you would an egg wash?

Oh man. There are going to be so many things like this out there. I can't imagine how many pets had to be left behind. The property damage is just unfathomable to me.

After Katrina I would get about 1 nail per day in my tires.  So 2 weeks = 14 nails.  It tapered off eventually, but all the trucks moving construction debris spilled them everywhere.  You didn't have bad wind, so probably not as many simplex nails.  (roof)

Buy a plug kit and 12v air compressor.  Trust me on this.

Good advice. I'm going down there as soon as the roads are passable. Tomorrow or Thursday. Adding that to my list.

Yeah back after Katrina I found an occupied coffin in the storm drain near Denny's in Biloxi MS. A long and involved story goes with that but this isn't the time.

The thing that didn't seem insane at the time was that I flagged down a police car from Indiana to report it.

The worst thing is all of the people from the midwest who are going to be on the internet saying that: they deserved it for voting Republican(Houston is a democrat city), they deserve it for living in a hurricane zone, and it's been 3 months already so stop whining.

Some professor University of Tampa got fired today for saying Texas deserved it for voting Repulican. Speaking of Denny's...wonder where a University of Tampa professor would find work after losing that plum job?

No.  I know you were making a "liberals!" joke here but Berkeley is a top institution.  The University of Tampa is... on the other end.
