We won't be attending, but just wanted to say that in our 10 years of traveling full time in our RV, we visited NOLA every year and it has become our favorite city!

We've stayed a month in Slidell, just out of the Quarter, on the canal east of town and west off Chef Menteur highway. Every time was wonderful!

@lousubcap I was thinking about going, but now I'm a little scared.  I remember the first time I reported aboard and was coming down the weapons shipping hatch...an A Ganger grabbed my ass and shouted "Fresh Meat".   I don't know what concerned me the most...the fact he grabbed my ass or that I didn't flinch.

Unfortunately I can't. We have a refueling outage the entire month of October and half of November - will be working 72 hour weeks. I should be able to make it to Butt Blast in April, and will bring that bottle of Woodford DO if you will be able to make it.

When I first reported aboard the Webster in Holy Loch in 1982, I came down the ladder into Control, and someone grabbed me and planted a kiss on my lips. Needless to say, I flinched. 

And before either of you say you say anything about boomers, my other sea tours were the Kentucky, the Miami, and the Dallas. The last tour was the best, being the first 688 to carry the DDS and work with the teams.

It's a short ferry ride to the quarter. Drops you off 100 yds  from Warren's. Easy cab ride too. There are a few b&b's over in Nola's hood too (he lives by Warrens). Go if you can. Legendary.

We holiday on Holy Loch every year, just round the corner from the jetty, beautiful area.

I'm sure it is much more picturesque than I remember, since the tender, barge, drydock, and submarines aren't anchored in the middle of the Loch.
