I agree with a lot of what @hendersontrking said:

These words are basic principles and ideals of our nation, and it is a reason we have been so successful and widely emulated since our founding.  If you are eager and willing to forgo these ideals out of fear, that is certainly your right, and nobody here will tell you not to think that or not to vote for one who will support that idea.  Just know that sacrificing those ideals will be a greater blow to American exceptionalism than anything else that's happened in 30+ years.

Set up a safe zone in syria for them.  Provide aid, medicine, food, water, and security.

Nobody is denying that a % of the refugees are terrorists, we need to keep them out.

Does anyone not believe that it's just a matter of time until we have a Paris style attack in America?  Let's keep that in mind while we determine how many young Muslim men with not papers we let into our country.

Is anyone really suggesting we let them all in without any due diligence?  I really have not seen that at all.

The current US vetting process for refugees takes 18-24 months.  That is after the one completed by the UN.

  • The reason Obama wants them here in mass is so his Muslim brothers can spread the word faster. Then when the attacks start he can pass the buck saying another agency dropped the ball with the vetting process.

People...WAKE UP. They are already here just waiting. It WILL happen on our soil just as 9/11 did. Have you forgotten?

  • "In theory, as a signatory of the UN convention of 1951, America has a legal obligation to protect refugees. In practice the public is not willing to accept the boundless consequences of this commitment, so the federal government limits the overall number by presenting refugees and asylum-seekers with an overwhelming show of bureaucratic kludge."

@blasting @badinfluence  Already has. Boston Marathon. I think the numbers were around 286(?) wounded and killed. Muslim extremists using pressure cooking pot filled with metal as IEDs. They were Caucasian. They were terrorists.

  • When terror induces us to abandon our core values, WE become THEM.  That's a war we need to fight and a war worth fighting.  Not to say we shouldn't defend ourselves from and against terror -- we can and we must.  But in doing so, let us double down on the values that we share as Americans and show the world we will not forsake our principles out of fear.  That's how we win.

And, continue to Imagine.  It isn't hard to do.

Then let them move into YOUR neiborhood. See how fast you could sell your house when the buyer with young kids would buy it. Personally I don't give a s*** about your opinion....you were NOT there. You have NOT seen what I have. Yes that is the great thing about the US you can speak your liberal crap and we have to listen.
    @badinfluence

I didn't know common human decency was a liberal idea. It doesn't matter what you've seen, Mr. Confirmation Bias. Keep on stereotyping in your tinfoil hat and enjoy that fear. I'm not too concerned about selling my house or that my 2 and 3 year-old daughters are in danger, but cool logical fallacy.

If ISIL isn't embedding fighters in the Syrian migration, then they are missing a prime opportunity and dumber than I thought they were.

You can't screen people if there isn't an existing intelligence/biometrics database. All you can do is interviews them and people they know and hope for the best.

Allah Akbar is being shouted by the refugees during moment of silence for Paris.

Some Syrian refugees let in to America have already disappeared.

Most refugees are not terrorists, but some are.  What is an acceptable number of Terrorists to let into our country?

We can, and should help - but there are ways to do so that don't involve jeopardizing our nations security.

I would think, given the recent circumstance of Paris, and our own history for that matter, we are less concerned about those proposed to arrive, than what we suspect is already here.

Louisville is not a city like DC, NY, Boston, or Paris, folks. The threat my friends, is already here, it is real, and that is a fact.
And still, the likelihood of you being killed or injured on the way to/fro in an auto crash or by normal US gun violence before/during/after that concert is a few orders of magnitude greater than losing your life due to an ISIS attack.

Ted Cruz stated a couple days ago that "There is no meaningful risk of Christians committing acts of terror..." in voicing his support for just allowing Christian refugees to enter the USA. Somebody should have reminded him  that Timothy McVeigh was a white, Christian, US Army veteran.

Love the sourcing.  Daily Caller, huh.

    An "unidentified" refugee . . .

    ". . . may be headed to Washington . . ."

And, of course, it comes from that font of truth and virtue:  David Vitter!  Glad this paragon of family values took time from defending himself against *true* charges of patronizing prostitutes/lecturing on morality to raise the specter of terror in our midst.  Do we as a country ever get enough of this?

We have plenty of American Christian and non Christian lunatics... That's obvious by anybody's standards.  And they were born here. I'm not against helping people. I'm against harboring terrorists. Obviously most of these people aren't a threat.

  • @eggcelsioe with all due respect. FUC* YOU!
Human decency...lol...stereotyping....lol read the Koran you fool.
let me ask something. Why is it the people you seeing fleeing are mostly young men and not the elderly, women, or children? Think about that in your liberal save the world corner you sit in. You might say you don't care they live next to you and your family and I believe you are sincere in what you say. You might get lucky and not have radical Muslim move in next door, but you might also get that radical that rapes you wife and little girls before they strap a boom on themself and go blow up a mall. So they can get 72 virgins.

"Dont care what you've seen" you prick. I see this every night when I sleep. The 4th of July is a living hell for me and my fellow brothers and sisters. Yeah fireworks are great for you but guess what they remind us of...yeah a mortar attack and gunshots. Think from outside your little box you live in and look at the WHOLE picture.

I am all for helping them....in there OWN country. Take the fight there. Let them help themself.

  • I know damn good and well I'm not making any friends with this thread and probably will be ban from the forum, but I DONT care. Bringing in more people when we don't help our own is just plain outright dumb. When we start taking care of our homeless and our hungry then maybe I can see it. I see homeless right here in my hillbilly town. I do try and help. So to say I'm heartless is so far from the truth it is not even funny, but god damn folks let's take care of our own first.

@badinfluence Veteran to Veteran. I get it. But, it's the media's job to paint a picture. The left has theirs and the right theirs. I've stated my concerns. I also know as a family man if I were in these folks shoes I'd wanna hightail it out of there too. They don't want to be around that crap over there any more than you or I do. Unfortunately there's no clear cut answer that is going to make everybody happy. Meanwhile these people and their families are being slaughtered, raped and are living in conditions unimaginable to you and I. I have lost many friends in the military and private contractors alike. Fear seems to be the motivating factor. I have serious issue with homeless Vets not getting help. Is it nobody cares after they're done serving our country?

Not technically. They're were granted political asylum.
  • John no they were not. Do you want to take the chance that none of them fleeing Syria are NOT ISIS? Think about it. Would you want to take that chance? I agree we should help them. Again in Syria. Not by giving them a free pass and free housing and free food here.
