Anyway, Iraq is fine. It's obviously not bad enough that we want a draft, or people would be screaming for all out war to end it once and for all. And people keep signing up to go over there. Not sure what the problem is.

Following prefaced with a good round of day drinkin ( and no slow down on the horizon)- but has been said somewhere (maybe even in this thread), the key to success in any adventure (especially where you involve killing people) is to begin "with the end in mind".  We never had an end-game for Iraq in 2003.  Look at the dialog from the 1991 war- "Why didn't you press it home and take out Saddam?".  The PC answer was " We didn't have the Coalition behind us, reality was we didn't know how to manage what we would have had to deal with."  Thus endth the 100 hour ground assault.
And now we are still trying to sort out the aftermath of pressing it home starting in 2003.  BTW-Afganistan won't look any better down the road.  
Cold War cinic here!  But at least we are ahead in that one 1-0; inning TBD.

Our economy is doing pretty well compared to the rest of the world.  You can take any federal expense and say we borrowed to pay for it.  Such as the war.  Wars do feed the military industrial complex, create jobs, etc. Most economist say borrow during times of economic repression/depression.  No better job creator than war.  No better job killer than war.  Depends on where it's fought.  Well, maybe that's not completely accurate....
