Oh look, it’s March already so it’s time to change clocks, observe new flowers and beware ‘Ides’ - about which I have no clue. In more exciting news the PL title race continues and mystery surrounds who will be the most significant actors at the foot of the table.  At least half the teams are now safe from relegation, six right in the mix and the remaining four are incrementally less at risk. What will this weekend yield, other than Max Verstappen’s first win of the season - and Red Bulls second because Mr Horner is not a naughty boy.

    Saturday

Brentford v Chelsea, good time for the hit & miss Chels’ to visit their close neighbours.  The Bees have flatlined of late.  Hard to be confident either way so I am plumping for a draw and 2-2 at that.

Everton v West Ham, the Hammers bounced back to life with a win last time out albeit against Brentford while the Toffees’ have become draw specialists, and combined with a reduction to their points deduction they will feel slightly more confident.  Until their next punishment is issued for other dirty business with money,  due soon.  Again feels like a draw, but my inner being needs it to be an away win. 0-1

Fulham v Brighton, the hosts are inching to safety - their primary objective, and the filthy fetid Seagulls continue to defy gravity.  I don’t think they are the force they were and so this is not wholly in the bag because Fulham won at Man Utd last week.  Tight as a tiger. 1-1

Newcastle v Wolves, the Toon are one point behind Wolves which is objectively a surprise.  Poor form and injuries have scuppered the season for Newcastle, but it’s not too late.  However a defeat here would suggest the opposite and they may as well just give up.  2-1

Forest v Liverpool,  in case of emergency turn to the kids,  and Big Jurgy did just that by using a bunch of teenagers to win the Carabo Cup last Sunday and an FA cup tie mid week, with little problem.  Ominous for Forest who are struggling as the key Reds will be back, like Arnie, and fresh.  0-3

Spurs v Palace, new manager bounce ends here for the mighty Eagles. Four points from his first two matches see Palace going the right way - but against terrible opposition. Reality check 2-0.

Luton v Villa, the Hatters are slumping now and Villa have returned to the their Europe bothering best.  Initially a good contest and then Villa will pull away 0-2

    Sunday

Burnley v Bournemouth,  the Clarets are woeful and the Cherries have been little better recently but a home win will be a tall, albeit not impossible order. A 0-0 looks predestined.

Man City v Man Utd, the big derby except City will do what they have being doing week in and week out for a while and simply overwhelm. 1-3

    Monday

Sheff Utd v Arsenal, If I were the Blades management I’d offer the Gunners a three goal victory now and save everyone the bother.  0-3

Every one of those is a cast iron, solid gold, copper bottomed guarantee as usual, so feel everything and gamble all you have.

Sounds like a good time. Try not to get into too much trouble!

Excellent takes as always.  I will support that final statement and encourage others to bet their entire futures on these predictions - with maybe one exception.  I don't think Man U will break down the Citeh defense for even one goal...

For a while it seemed that they were largely outplaying teams (more possession, more shots, etc) even win they didn't win because of inability to finish, but lately they've just been out played by any decent team they have faced.  City are way more than a decent team and they will be highly motivated in this match.  I know that in rivalry matches anything can happen but I think this particular rivalry match will bring out the best in the light blue side of Manchester.

Probably not a crawfish boil this round, but there is some kind of local party planned for Sunday.  Something where lots of things get dyed green, apparently.

Being annoyed. Modern technology. Automatic running board mount broke on the Bronco. SWMBO hit something “unavoidable” on the interstate. 60 working business day lead time. Has to be machined….FML….hoping to take it off when I see it and having my mechanic at work weld it if the break is clean enough.

LOL, “unavoidable”. Not LOL at the situation. If yours is like mine, it was probably some sort of curb in a Target or Starbucks.

I do miss those, but sometimes it feels like celebrating a hoarder for hoarding.

I do live vicariously through his posts though.  The amount of sweet looking projects, equipment, and toys I see when I zoom in is mind boggling.

Definitely cast aluminum. My engineer at the bakery is gonna weld it for me on Monday. Hopefully he can use the bench vice and straighten out the actual assembly

Following soccer scores while sitting in a meeting.  @CPFC1905, I saw that Nottingham Forest and Liverpool were tied at 0-0 with 10 minutes left and I thought "It's going to break the Forest hearts when Liverpool score their late winner"

Even when it was 0-0 8 minutes into stoppage time I thought "they're going to let them play until Liverpool score"...

I hate it when I'm right about stuff like this.

How do they determine amount of stoppage time?  Is it like figure skating where the judges arbitrarily decide, or is there a bank of time that gets built up during the match for specific actions that happen?

It used to be referees judgment to compensate for time lost to injuries,  then a few years ago fixed 30 second tariffs came in for substitutions and goals as well,  then since the World Cup more precise measures came in to increase the actual minutes played.   Hence the now much late match finish times and totals over 100 becoming the norm.
