Enjoying a healthy glass of brown water after arriving home around 30 minutes ago following duty as a poll worker.  left the house at 4:50 AM to arrive and get everything up and running before the 6 AM opening. They closed at 6 PM but the last eligible person in line to vote didn't finish til around 6:15 PM.  Steady and substantial turnout.
Nice work!  Thanks for keeping the process alive and running!  I think the only thing we voted for was a library milage.  I voted absentee.  A few times.

Workers have been going thru the neighborhood this past ten days or so, thought they were rerouting water lines.  Turns out "Connext" was laying pipe for fiber optics, yay!
I'm currently paying $95/mo and getting 40 Mbps download and 6.9 Mbps upload; I looked up their website and their Starter pkg provides 100 Mbps, no contracts, unlimited data, for $35/mo.  I signed up.   :)

@Ikapigian - Our house was built in 1968 and the contractor used that pipe for exterior sewer line. There was a huge pine tree very near the house that crushed the pipe as the roots grew around it. Then the roots grew into the pipe and clogged the Cast Iron line inside the house. That's when I started digging around the roots, cutting them away and eventually pushing the tree over. Got rid of the Orangeburg pipe and the tree at the same time. Fun times.

My house is the same vintage, I bought it in the early 80s and I though most of the orangeburg had been replaced, plumber came back today with a locator and I may have lucked out, it likely is a fitting that got rooted and it’s in a flower bed short of the sidewalk and street , going to have my guys dig that in the am

if it’s in the street that’s when I have to deal with the city  , permits and an engineering contractor which , aside from the cost, really extends the time on getting this completed, all goes well I can be done tomorrow rather than a week or two

My 1960 house had a clay sewer line. Still does, actually. A company came by and lined it with plastic, which was set using high pressure steam. Apparently it's a permanent fix for $6,500. It's one of the options around here, the other main one being just digging it up and replacing it with a plastic pipe.
Interestingly, a couple years before I had that done, the city came by and lined all the main sewers out in the streets around here with plastic. For that, they fed large diameter plastic pipe down into the original sewer. I don't know what the original was made of, nor how they put holes in the new lining for each home to connect to.
But it all works well now.

Yes Insitube if I remember the name right. I had a contract lining several thousand feet of concrete drainpipes crossing I-10 about 10 years ago. I described it as a reverse condom. The hot water unrolls it down the center . We used water jets to clean the pipes first and tv remotes to verify that they were clean first. In one site an alligator had to be “removed” first.

The adolescent PL season is beginning to show signs of familiarity, excepting Aston Villa in 5th but Chelsea are finding form and will likely head north up the league to put the squeeze on them and Brighton.   With European competition in full effect some squads are being spread thin and managers under increasing pressure, too. The bottom four have declared independence, sharing meagre yields that aggregate to 20 points from 44 games them so far - and clear water between the fifth bottom team is reason for concern.

    Saturday

Wolves v Spurs, unpredicted reveals of fortune last time out - who’s got the bouncebackability?  Spurs have the quality, Wolves have the guile. Tight but 1-2, unless this is the reemergence of Spursy Spurs?

    Arsenal v Burnley 3-0

Palace v Everton,  room for a third team here because of these two have specialised in squeezing points from games despite having the minority of possession. Bore fest widely expected, but a bit of sparkle from newly returned Eze for the mighty Eagles could be the difference. 1-0

Man Utd v Luton, the carnival goes on for the reds, albeit largely stoked by a media that are still obsessed with Sir Alex, Becks, G-Nev’ et al. Move on, already!   The Hatters nearly did the dirty on Liverpool last time out, perhaps more of the same?  Not impossible but bullying smaller teams to distract attention is Utd’s thing, so 2-0

Bournemouth v Newcastle, former golden boy returns to his first love, but is the new golden boy of his current love. Frosty stares will be exchanged between fans as a consequence. And a comfortable away win will occur in the background. 0-2

    Sunday

Aston Villa v Fulham, Euro win last night for the Villa while Fulham are all fits and starts. Should be a home win, could be fatigue laden and stodgy. 1-0

Brighton v Sheffield Utd, no wins in their last 5 for the fetid filthy Seagulls who signed-off on that?  Is there a sub-plot because their guests, the Blades bagged their first ‘W’ of the season last time. See - the dark media forces at play as suddenly this otherwise meaningless match is now TV gold (gold-ish,  maybe pewter). 2-0. Meh.

Liverpool v Brentford, the crazy times are back at Liverpool and we like them more. The Bees are three from three and will be no pushover.  2-2

West Ham v Forest, the Hammers are on a three game losing run but eeked out a win in Europe last night, so typically fraught for them right now. Forest can’t decide if they are mid-table mediocrity or relegation fodder.  Could be an abomination of a game, could be knockabout fun. More likely the former. 1-1

Chelsea v Man City, Well looky here. Cite have surmounted the league but this is more of a challenge than 1st v 10th might appear.  The Chels are no playing mid-weeks and secured a statement win over Spurs last time out. The one to watch, for sure. 3-2

Enjoy the ride, see you on the other side of the international break.

Other girls may try to take me away

Taking a breath. My Japanese technicians are gone. Alas, they’ll be back in a week to work on the logic for one of the PLC’s to make something work that isn’t. Shouldn’t take them long to do. Hook up a laptop, download the patch and verify signal. I’d do it if it wasn’t written in Japanese.

"Lazy Americans refuse to learn basic Japanese and instead we have to fly back to that hellhole for help."

EDIT -not sure but I think "for help" should be "to help". Google doesn't get everything correct all the time. "I could be wrong now, but I don't think so 'cause it's a jungle out there" Randy Newman

It translates as “I think I’m turning Japanese if that helps?”

Then I dropped 8 kids off for an overnight event at church. Almost free night.

    Edit
I did ask the event organizer how much money it would take for them to stay for an additional night.  I think we are in negotiations but I'm not sure.

Not at all. We once got the Dickey’s BBQ Thanksgiving one year and it was awesome. Oddly enough, the same year, we did a Christmas dinner from Cracker Barrel that was also awesome. Maybe the best year of holiday meals due to not having to worry about the cook.

I got a Cajun brine from Kosmos BBQ this year that I’m pretty excited about.
