I like toast on the number 5 scale so no issues with the crust.  (left to right-top to bottom to eliminate any confusion; starting with #1)

I’m a staunch 2-3 man. Anything less is bread. Anything more is cardboard.
2.5 here. Anything less is white bread.

Toast level is so much more complicated than you're appreciating.

Thinner bread can't take the heat. Thicker bread keeps a softer middle, so you can toast it more and it won't become a shingle.

Are you buttering it?  It can take more toasting.

    Sandwich?  Less toasting.

#3, scrape across the bread 4 times with a garlic clove cut in half, spread butter or olive oil, then a sprinkle of Italian herb mix.

Regarding on toast: cream cheese and Marmite.

Marmite like Vegemite is definitely an acquired taste even with the support of top shelf toast.

Replacing a fire ring. Walk in with the cracked and out with a new in the box. I'm lucky to have a store like this by me, less than 10 minutes away
The new ring is smooth on top and only has two scallops on the bottom.
