Boring stuff but thought I'd do my part to help keep the lights on

North facing back wall sucks for solar panel. Hopefully changing the orientation 70 degrees is going to help.

I'm thinking this is just version 0.9 and it's intentionally crude/rough as he is just collecting data to see if the idea has merit.Ozzie_Isaac said:

Oh the travesty!!!
If the data justifies it I have no doubt that version 1.0 will be a more refined and elegant design with matching fit and finish (and matching screws).

So, on the coast of NC. We have a Super Blue Moon, a big hurricane offshore, a King tide and a Tropical depression with 60 mph winds and 9 to 10 inches of rain coming tomorrow.

I drink cheap beer so I can afford good bourbon.

Haha, mission accomplished. Glad I generated some traffic while busy smoking egret ham and processing/marinating another load of salmon fillets. Better not forget the foil.
Thanks for all the constructive feedback but don't expect this geezer to change anything
This is just one of countless travesties in our old house, at our age we don't need to impress anyone
For us practicality is more important than appearance, chances are no one will notice it that high hiding behind the panel, and it's a back wall.
Here are the deets...
1) The two screws on the left were originally holding the panel post directly to the wall with plastic plugs. I figured I'd add the concrete screw to hold the extra weight of the wood.
2) I counter sunk the screws where it matters - the screws holding the two wood pieces, to ensure wood base is flush with the wall. The three exposed screws, nah.
3) It was a rush project, the wood pieces were already connected when I tried to cut the triangle and the mitre saw couldn't line up with the sharpie line.
4) Wood pieces were coated with polyurethane.
5) Wood base sealed with tar caulking at top and sides.canuckland -

Absolutely. Currently at 3%, may struggle big time to build up the charge even if the tweak works. Another option is to remove battery and reinstall after charging it fully and see how long it lasts, still not ideal but I can live with having to do that every once in a while.GrateEggspectations said:canuckland -

I'm at a brewpub, of which there are four within walking distance to my new place. I'm also within walking distance to 7 great restaurants. This could be good or it could be bad.

Went fishing. Great day. 11 in the box. Busy. We called it combat fishing. Tons of boats.

That sounds like a damned good day to me. Would be nice with fewer boats, but that's what it is these days. Too many people. To me there was always one too many people on my earlier fishing trips. My father used to take us fishing under the Sakonnet River Bridge in Tiverton Rhode Island. The current was brutal and there's my father with his six boys, all casting into the current. It seems like every one of us pulled some kind of sea anemone looking thing from the bottom. Every time we pulled one up my father said " you caught a horses ass congratulations" Now that I'm older I realized those things really did look like a horses ass, but at the time, I really wondered how the rest of the horse got away, and how would it poop.
