Had great interactions with the local fire department and sheriffs deputy.

around here they come in all red faced screaming angry threatening fines....then after a half hour of it they issue you an open burn permit for the summer. its a funny thing, i cant cut or burn the pitch pine trees that were destroyed by a southern pine beetle invasion because the town will not issue permits on an ocean front property. state told me to cut them down and told me the town has no jurisdiction. so i cut them and burn them in place and take the scolding til they hand me the permit. the lake property is another problem, seems the water district is a god......

@alaskanassasin - what's the reason for the burn?  Is it helpful for the soil, or did you just have to clear some way quickly?

That field is in a creek bottom, when the creek comes out of the bank after 3” of rain it deposits debris that washes off of other fields. The debris was tightened up by another flooding a few weeks ago, you can see the growth difference on the rye on that first picture.
The grass is rye I am using for weed control and erosion

Burning it will hopefully kill all the weed seeds that floated in, also I can plant through it now.

Fire is bad! Let nature do it's thing.  Stop destroying the land! Weeds are food too, just not your bland western version of food! Monster!

Anybody watch Ralph the Baker?  I find his videos entertaining.

I find it comical how he slams butter down on the griddle. "Another stick of butter y'all"

It's funny. I watched a couple and algorithmically they show up in my ewetube (nod to botch) feed.

What is driving the vendor concerns?  Recession, interest rates, overall uncertainty, or are there other more specific factors at play impacting the food industry?

I have chosen to live in a place where almost nobody else lives.  You try finding a date.  At this point the raccoons in the woods look attractive.

Honestly, that sounds like a fair trade.  People are overrated.

Any time the VC's are in the game, hang on for the ride.  The "right sizing" and squeezing the company for the max return is the game.  Then sell,  sell sell.

Folks of that ilk were known as Leveraged Buyout Organizations (LBO's) a generation or so ago.  Those got a bad name for some reason, so they switched to VC's.  Vulture Capitalist is the most apt name for them.
