We were in Gulf Shores during thanksgiving. Caught some pompano and my first permit! Never thought I would catch a permit in Alabama. I was pretty excited, definitely one that has been on my wish list to catch.

ive read you need to cast flies to a hundred of those before catching one, well im past a hundred......had a chance on a big one years ago feeding behind a ray, was inches from picking up that fly and it just spooked

Oddly enough, this was on a pompano rig with a small piece of shrimp and some fish gum. I know in south Florida it seems like the stars have to alight to get them to eat! Bucket list fish for sure.

I gifted my two sons the beer advent calendar this year (much less pain than importing an overseas stocked with USA bourbon deal from 2021) and suggested they open it AM Dec 1st to get things rolling. Out of my hands and I checked the box-now all with them.
