  • Just finished an amazing meal at Steak 48 in Houston. Was an amazing meal. Steaks were fantastic. Almost forgot the pic.

Lord-a-mercy.....I would have been happy just gnawing on that bone.
I normally don’t eat steaks at restaurants, but if you or anyone else is in Houston I highly recommend Streak 48. You order your protein and all the sides are family style. I’m still thinking about the truffle twice baked potatoes. They were topped with shaved black truffles. I couldn’t get a pic of them because everyone dove in them.

@jeffwit I quarter red potatoes skin on, boil in salted water until soft. Drain, add whatever is available. Tonight was crema, cheddar, green onions, garlic, Kerry Irish and cubed prosciutto. Then form balls and smash like a burger on the blackstone.

When I was a kid we had mashed potatoes almost every night.  If there were leftovers they were saved.  My mom would add onions and lots of love to that and patty it out and fry in CRISCO.  It's a riff on that.

So sorry for your family's loss, @kl8ton.  He was a beautiful dog and gone way too soon.

@kl8ton I’m very sorry. I’ve shed more tears over horses and dogs than I have humans.

Rough week for pets, our cat somehow managed to get out last night. By the time we noticed it had to have been at least a few hours. No sign of her this morning. The kids were pretty upset last night and slept on the couches in case she came back to meow at the door. Normally I wouldn't be too upset because I hate cats, but this one was pretty damn cool.

@kl8ton - so sorry to hear of y'alls loss.  I've said it 1000 times and I'll say it again......there are a lot of people I'd rather see go before a good dog.
@Battleborn - good luck with the search.  Hope she shows up!

@Battleborn - had a cat go walk-about for 6 days last summer.  Neighborhood on alert and then he (it) shows up.  Never did before or since.  You never know.

Good luck as the underlying issue(s) may be present down-stream.

We've all been there brother. I've found that periodic reminders that I can't actually read her mind is also, equally, unhelpful.

I'm thinking it would work better on steak, preferably one that's well-done.
