Intestinal obstruction.  5 grand to operate.

Can't swing that. Probably putting the boy down.

Hate to hear that. Might want to call the regular vet tomorrow and see what they charge. The ER vets are notoriously expensive. Just like the regular ER
@kl8ton totally agree with @DoubleEgger. Surgery at my clinic would be in the $1500-2000 range. ERs are good, but expensive.
We did decide to put Duke down.  One of the hardest things to go through.  I am glad my son was there.  It was his dog.  We were with him while they put him to sleep.

They informed us that our vet would be less expensive, but that he should be on IV and pain meds over night.  My bill at ER would have been just over $1800, then I would still be looking at surgery with no guarantees at the vet in the morning if they could have got him in.

    Heartbreaking night/day for us.

    He just turned one.

Sorry to read that @kl8ton As mentioned earlier in the thread they are part of the family and it is a heart wrenching decision to make, but needs to be made none the less.

At least he is in no more pain. Rest assured, when the time is right, he will be waiting for you with his tail wagging because their love is timeless and unconditional.

Went to a funeral today. Good friend of mine passed away with lung cancer. He was a member of an Old Regular Baptist Church. All I can say if you haven’t attended a Old Regular Baptist Church service or funeral then you are missing out.

This is my first real cook with my new Smokeware cap. My fifth or so on the PSWOO. I've had my Egg for almost a year. I've burnt over 1000 pounds of lump cooking on it three to seven nights per week. I never get tired of a spatchcocked bird. This is my style; skin freed, legs turned and tucked. This one is basted in butter and coated in DP FireWalker. No raw wood this time. Just Rockwood.

Having had to put down my golden, killed me, and made it impossible, to get another, until recently. We have another pup now, and I can't believe I had waited so long. The aggravation is far outweighed by the joy they bring.
I am so sorry for your loss. Do not wait...get back on the horse.
