OT- Mac store vs. Microsoft store

Casual observation:

We were at the fancy outdoor mall in Austin this evening and we walked past the Microsoft store.

5 doors down we passed the Apple store.

You judge:

Microsoft- 4 employees, 2 customers

And now the Apple store: (on a wed night)

  • Crazy. On a lighter note, I had a killer Proscuitto wrapped pork tenderloin that was meat glued so tight it was like a potato chip on the outside. Delish.

  • I highly recommend North at the domain. Great restaurant and one of my favorites in austin. Rustic italian. Get the pork tenderloin.

great northern beans and a tomato jam (for lack of a better word- no gelatin but reduced and a little sweet) of some sort. It was killer. The beans were simple but really great. The pork was brined and cooked medium rare. Perfect. And for $22, there was a lot going on with the one. I'll be recreating this one ASAP.

  • And there were actually 3 medallions on the plate. I ate the other 2 and thought it was so good that I should take a pic for you guys. I had to push all the beans around to fill up the plate to make it look somewhat legit.

me too. It will probably be TFJ though. She is the brine/meat glue specialist but I'll egg it after she does heavy lifting.

Yep... My wife does the heavy lifting in this partnership; nothing at all to do with cooking or shopping :))

We are a shallow bunch, impressed with a staged non-egged meal - still, it looks pretty nice.

That tenderloin dish was obviously concocted by a mac user.

@SGH - I'm Apple with OSX - I have 3 Macbook pros and one mini.  Haven't had the pain of the IOS upgrade because I use Android with my phone.   I'm thinking about that iPhone 6 plus big mutha flippah.  But there's no right or wrong.  Whatever you're comfortable with.

The apple store here was packed too with 80% of the people at the genius bar or getting some kind of help on existing stuff.
But yeah much busier than the MS store.
I will be trying the Nokia icon which is a windows phone.

The apple store is extra busy with the recent release of the new phone line...this is not typical.

    @SkinnyV - what's the problem?

No problem , gave the iPhone a try after being with blackberry/android for phones the last few years.
I have a Mac mini and enjoyed apple devices in the past , but overall I didn't care for the phone, the OS or the overall feel of the phone.
Camera was top notch and I will miss that.

To a degree that's true but I've observed this same thing at other times.  Windows just hasn't developed anywhere near the same customer base for their various electronic products.  They have a great deal of catching up to do when it comes to a store like this.

  • This store is always like this. The Apple stores in Austin are where the hipster apocalypse will begin. If you held up a razor and a bar of soap in there, the place would empty in seconds.

I'm a PC dude.  Why?  Because my employers have always been using PC's and so I am not about to try learning a different OS and software at home than what I have at work.  It's bad enough having to relearn software when they go through a major upgrade and what I used to know how to do is now different, but no way do I want to deal with two different computer operating systems and software.

Macintosh, my first computer was an APPLE II, with those big floppy discs back in 1984.

I use a PC at work. Clunky, stubborn, prone to every virus outbreak and the worst customer service Bangalore has to offer.

I like the way Apple computers just work. Day after day, no malicious software to worry about, all my programs work together.

Programs for PC (and Android) have to have code written for each and every platform and computer manufacturer. What works on a Dell might not work as well on a Samsung. Same with the phone, apps have to be heavily laden with millions of lines of unnecessary code so they'll work with all the different manufacturers of Android phones.

Apple software works on Apple computers and phones. No burdensome extra architecture to accommodate software written for other computers.

Apples are far more reliable, require far fewer IT guys to support, and the store is crowded because of demand, it's not a reflection on the operating system.

BBQ is a celebration of culture in America. It is the closest thing we have to the wines and cheeses of Europe.

Drive a few hundred miles in any direction, and the experience changes dramatically.
