There ain’t a snow shovel to be had here. Square nosed flat shovel. PS, the snow sticks to the metal shovel head

spray the shovel with PAM or workalike. Spray silicone (like Jig-a-loo) works as well.

A lot of pier beam homes around me. Hell, half of my house is on piers. Exposed plumbing plus sub 30’ temps is never good. I’m sure neighbors are dripping taps. I know I am

Still snowed in so I did a riff on a meatball pot pie with a cornbread crust. Used Meatchurch Fajita seasoning in place of taco seasoning and cooked the meat loose rather than in meatballs. Pretty good.

Hey Botch. No bean sprouts, though I did look for some at the store in anticipation of tomorrow night’s dish! Top to bottom, those are sweet onions, yellow and red bell peppers, carrots and celery. I had banked on cucumber as well, but my partner reported that she finished them in the kids’ lunches this morning.

Saturday

Bournemouth v Forest, the game to watch as 7th host 3rd with both in tippy top form. The visitors need to go for it or risk getting picked off. Tough to call 2-3    I'm seeing a regression to the mean for Forest and a slip up on this one.  Probably a 1-1 draw that does neither team any good.  They're understaffed relative to other teams around them in the table and they've been able to must their adrenaline to get up for games with big name teams and players but I think they'll have a hard time playing at 110% against "just Bournemouth".

Brighton v Everton, signs of life emerging for the Toffees but how indicative can beating Spurs be, at the moment?  The filthy Seagulls are unbeaten in six now and winning games again. 2-0

Liverpool v Ipswich, it could be about now that belief dissipates for the Tractor Boys and they will  find themselves slipping under. No prospect of an away win 3-0

Southampton v Newcastle, a lovely trip South and a bucket full of free points on offer.  0-3 

Wolves v Arsenal, the Gunners need to eliminate the draws if they are really going to press for top spot.  Wolves are in a pickle, just out of the drop zone by goal difference and two positive results shy of the team above them.   0-2

Man City v Chelsea, the big big super money teams of PL history but are somewhat in the faded glory aisle today. 5th host 4th which is not bad by others’ standards but sub optimal for these guys.  Goals guaranteed. 3-2     You're probably right but whenever I look at a game and think "this could be the most entertaining match of the weekend" it then has about a 75% chance of ending 0-0 or 1-1.  We'll see.  I hope you're right.  You probably are.

Sunday

Palace v Brentford, the problem with being on an unbeaten runs is that we fans start to see them as a burden . Without doubt the mighty Eagles are far more reliable now and have hoisted themselves to 12th, our spiritual home. Will the Bees be the buffer? They sit 11th but are in more lumpy form.  Screams draw.  1-1 

Spurs v Leicester, four places apart and the guests are comfortably in the drop zone - so Spurs really have surpassed themselves. they have scored more than 2 goals per game but still languish in 15th.  The Foxes are in no kind of form, other than the relegation type.  In theory both should lose this match as between them they have lost their last 11 out of a collective 12.  It will be 2-0 or 0-2.  I’ll go high risk and gamble on a home win. 

Villa v West Ham, the Hammers are in a bad way so damage limitation until May and then rebuild for next season is already the widely held view. Villa need the win to keep them in touching distance of the top six. 2-0

Fulham v Man Utd, look - the Cottagers are not 7 points clear of Utd by luck. The Red Devils are an absolute circus act, currently. I am going for drab shut out for the hosts 1-0.  Just because I can't go on record as predicting that Man U will lose to Fulham, I'll go with another "barely scrape by, for most of the game they look like the better team even though they don't really look like they'll win on the scoreboard" Man U victory at 1-2, similar to their mid-week match with Rangers.

There you go, enjoy all that.  I will be watching from inside the house as the weather here is stormy.  OK to use that word?

Good points well made.  Forest are seeing the uptick from the longer Euro comps, which are sapping resources like never before.  To compete in those and in the PL teams need two starting XI's, i.e an equal replacement for an injured or exhausted player, and that would be very very expensive to assemble. It's why Villa are flatlining and Palace should be higher.
