Procrastinating.  It’s nominally a work holiday but I’ve got way too much work to do.

I just learned that Canadian capital gain tax is 50% up to 250k and 66.6% after that. Wow.

Yes, but that is not the tax rate, but the amount of gains that is taxed.  You then pay your income tax rate on that percentage. Still brutal don't get me wrong, but it's not as bad as it first sounds.

It is breathtaking sir. Worse than it sounds. If you profit 250k on an investment and sell it your government takes 166,665 loonies leaving you $83,335 of your 250,000 that you earned, 83k is all you get.

And yet Canada still ranks higher than the US in best places to live.

You are an odd dude my man.  More than anyone here, you seem to spend an inordinate amount of time trying to convince yourself that you don't want to move to Canada.

No, they tax you on 125k. 50% of the 250k. So you get 125k plus whatever is left after of the other 125k after it's taxed.

    Yep, the maths looked wrong.

I don't know what the brackets and rates are, but it's a progressive rate system like ours, except we tax the whole cap gain total...
    Love you bro!

Got it, so it would be closer to 55K. It is indeed not as bad as it sounds that is good.

Don't tell your problems to people.  80% of people don't care and 20% are glad you have them.

Pretty sweet same day bread. I like to cut the cheddar up into small cubes like M&M size, also I prefer the 5 quart DO, this time I used a 6 and the bread kind of flattened out.  Also I use pickled Jalapeno.
