    Randomness

Travel basketball done for my 15 yo. That was October through February. I was required to have Facebook on my phone for the duration of the season. Facebook deleted from my phone!

Assessments came out today for my township. Three of my residential parcels went up about five and a half percent. My commercial parcel which borders two of my residential parcels increased by 62%?  Talks with the assessor are taking place.

I successfully stalled out the Kubota RTV while trying to bite down and hog out some ice on some roads that do not ever get sun. We were in the '40s today so everything was starting to melt. Good time to move slush, ice, and standing water. @alaskanassasin

62%?!? Is it because of land improvements? That’s a bit absurd

The assessor basically said the last assessor was asleep at the wheel.  I actually reduced the number of campsites that I had. It's kind of a sticky situation because the land is only valuable if it is used as a campground. If the purchaser of the land doesn't use it as such then all of the crap that I have buried in the ground is useless to the purchaser. I feel the assessor needs to treat my property as vacant land. I think he is trying to attach some of the value of the business to it now.

Varies year to year but about 60-70%? The world is a big place!

Making our way from about 2 hrs NE of London to South West England to a town called Padstow. The Chicken, pork and leek pie was not so bad of a treat.

That's a fair poke down from Nottinghamshire.

Padstow offers an array of Rick stein outlets,  my preference is the fish & chip shop on the harbour. His bakery sells very nice sourdough bread, too.
Make sure you get some pasties from Chough Bakery (pronounced chuff).

    Where you going next?

So, Florida won't have income tax or property tax? I guess that leaves it to sales tax and tourism-related taxes.

they get better at finding you. on the lake they compare satellite photos yearly. put out a new dock, cut down a dead tree near the house 90 feet from the water etc and theres a good chance you get a big fine. one of my neighbors just got caught and a 30k fine for a few dead trees (chinese beetles are killing the pitch pines here and getting a permit for the tree cutting takes years).  i broke a few down about ten years ago with a big chain-fall, it was 'windy' that day.

Have you tried raking the forest? Might help with the beetles.

They are even using drones here now to look for violations. Our taxes at the camp have doubled every year for the last 4 or 5. Good thing they started at $16/year though

@CPFC1905 we are staying here till Saturday.
Our friend is having a milestone birthday and this is one of his favorite places.  We will be eating at one of Rick Stein’s original place “ The seafood restaurant” Wednesday night, and Saturday we head back to Southwell.
I already has a traditional pastie and sat at the harbor because the weather was perfect.

While we are here, we are eating English grub. With that said, our friend requested me to make Philly cheesesteaks. We brought Amaroso rolls with us and just came back from a farm store with some sirloin I asked the local butcher to put in the freezer and slice on his deli slicer.  Probably the most expensive meat I personally have bought for cheesesteaks

I hope they turn out okay.  They should.

mass and maine, and a family beach house in maine. im still waiting on permits for the beach house to be signed to take down dead trees for my brothers wedding back in 2003.  my business is on a river, cant even park a vehicle on the rare skunk cabbage that grows everywhere. starting permits on sebago lake to take down two giant pines (3 feet diameter) next to the house and two others leaning over my neighbors house, the neighbors want them down as they are putting a new house up this year.  it should be easy, theres maybe 40 giant pines on my  0.6 acres plus all the other trees. so far i need to get a full count and sign off on growing 4 more trees

i can understand the town and state not letting me clear the lot both environmentally and to keep the lake front looking like 1920 but thats not the case here

the house in mass on a lake 20 minutes to boston is any tree more than 4 inches in diameter dead or alive cant be touched and the conservation officer is there everyday. only lake in town.  my house its 4 feet from the water there. so really, whats the difference if im missing a 4 inch tree.  not much, i only own one tree on that property =)

crazy rules and too many crazy people on the ready to turn you in and the lake associations are full of them

I know that view well, pasty on the quayside is absolutely the way to enjoy them.  Hope you enjoy Stein’s place.
