"District Judge Tanya Chutkan, assigned to preside over former President Trump’s new criminal case, has frequently spoken out in robust terms against the efforts to disrupt the transfer of power in 2020. Chutkan has presided over dozens of Jan. 6 attack cases and has repeatedly exceeded the prison sentences requested by prosecutors. Chutkan has indirectly referenced Trump during Jan. 6 attack criminal sentencings, saying to one defendant that he “did not go to the United States Capitol out of any love for our country … He went for one man.” Hannah Rabinowitz and Marshall Cohen report for CNN

Read the indictment against former President Trump, as reported by POLITICO. "

    Edit to add the following:

"THE CO-CONSPIRATORS: The indictment lists six unnamed individuals who allegedly helped Trump advance the plot to subvert the election. Five of the people are clearly identifiable, as Josh and Kyle and many other media outlets have reported:

    1. RUDY GIULIANI, Trump’s lawyer and the leader of an effort to pressure state legislators to reverse election results.
    2. JOHN EASTMAN, a constitutional lawyer who helped develop the strategy to pressure Pence to overturn the election on Jan. 6.
    3. SIDNEY POWELL, a conservative lawyer who pushed fringe theories about manipulation of voting machines.
    4. Clark, who pressed DOJ leaders to sow doubt about the election results.
    5. KEN CHESEBRO, an architect of key elements of Trump’s fake elector strategy.

The sixth alleged co-conspirator is described as a political consultant who helped implement a plot to install false slates of electors. That person’s identity, despite the reams of public reporting on Trump post-election scheming, remains unconfirmed. Expect to see more on this in the coming days.

THE DEFENSE: Trump’s main defenses against conviction don’t require a defense attorney: Stall the start of any trial, win the 2024 presidential election, and end the case with either a pliable new AG or a self-pardon.

But short of that rather remarkable strategy, two lines of defense have already emerged. First, Trump will argue that anything he said about fraud is protected speech under the First Amendment. The argument has already been panned by legal pundits who point out that speech — e.g. “Stick ‘em up and give me all your money!”— is routinely used as evidence to establish the predicate of a crime.

Trump may be on more solid ground with his second defense: Smith can’t prove former Trump really knew there was no election fraud. While the indictment is brimming with details about how Trump was repeatedly told by the people who were in the best position to know that the election was fairly decided, Trump will likely argue that he genuinely believed there was fraud and therefore he didn’t act “corruptly.”"

“Cheesbro” might be the perfect last name for a Trump co-conspirator.

  • pretty sure nowadays it would be HUNTER "BURISMA" BIDEN, but the left likes to reminisce =)
It’s not reminiscing so much as drawing a parallel.  Burisma for Biden and Benghazi for Hillary are both tall tales told by idiots, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
    You snowballs are correct:
Outside of the bank records, the suspicious activity reports, the wire transfers, the Private bank transactions, the LLCs, the texts, the emails, the WhatsApp messages, the photos of Joe with Hunter’s business partners, the voicemails to his son, the two business partners saying Joe is the “brand,” the “big guy,” and “the chairman,” the two whistleblowers testimony, the recorded phone calls between Biden and Poroshenko, the video of Joe Biden bragging about firing the Ukrainian prosecutor, and Hunter’s statements that he’s giving his dad half his income, there is NO evidence of Joe Biden being involved.

This entire new joke of an indictment is over Trumps free speech. Nothing more. No matter if he was right or wrong on what he said, he has a right to say it. Oh, just look up the judge appointed. It’s also dishonest for the prosecution to leave out the part Trump said to go PEACEFULLY protest. They just leave that out. You have this administration trying to put his opponent in prison. You have mountains of evidence against Biden yet you snowballs just ignore it. All of you are either ignorant or just morally bankrupt.

Yeah, I read that team maga already had themselves all frothed up saying this was simply free speech.  You're right on time.

Have you by chance read the indictment? It helps clear up the free speech angle that you and others really (mistakenly, I would add) want to be at the center of this.

"Former president Trump is expected to appear in person today for his arraignment in federal court in Washington on charges that he conspired to subvert the results of the 2020 election. Niha Masih, Lyric Li, John Wagner, Amy B Wang, Mariana Alfaro, Spencer S. Hsu and Dan Rosenzweig-Ziff report for the Washington Post

Former President Trump’s legal team is framing his indictment in the 2020 election interference investigation as an attack on his right to free speech, suggesting a forthcoming First Amendment defense. Experts suggest such a defense has little merit given the range of steps taken by Trump and his allies that prosecutors say transformed speech into action. These actions include enlisting fake electors to sign false certificates; attempting to use the Justice Department to launch election fraud probes; and pressuring Vice President Pence to disrupt Congressional proceedings on Jan. 6, 2021. Eric Tucker and Alanna Durkin Richer report for AP News

Bill Barr yesterday said that while former President Trump can “tell people that the election was stolen, when he knew better … That does not protect [him] from entering into a conspiracy.” “All conspiracies involve speech, and all fraud involves speech. So, free speech doesn’t give [Trump] the right to engage in a fraudulent conspiracy,” Barr added. Rebecca Falconer reports for Axios. "

Setting up a string of fake electors across multiple states sure is an interesting form of speech.  Do you put out a newsletter for people to subscribe to?

Depends.  Does that video include any of them calling Secretaries of State asking them to just find another ten thousand votes? How about setting up fake electors?  Anything close to that?

We're getting shreds of this story over here and it all seems very complicated.  But then again I have market standard attention span of a male, so the end of a news item is quite the stretch.
So, I turn to you as reliable sources; WTF is going on?
We had our problems with BoJo and the Trussinator, but the replacement, a boring low profile economist is just getting on with business.  This place is, still - a sh*tshow following the BREXIT lunacy but it is fraction more tolerable without a total buffoon seeking headlines constantly.

Hang on a minute.   It's all a distraction ploy to kept David Grusch out of the news, right?   The Donald was President, so he knows the truth about ET and friends, so can't allow this it all to leak out.  Am I right?
