Kansas is part of 14 states whose energy is managed by the SPP (Southwest Power Pool).  There are 4 power pools in the US.
And then there is Texas.  It’s an island grid, operated by ERCOT.  Electric Reliability Counsel Of Texas.  A true rebel , they don’t import energy or interconnect with the other 4 pools.  They make their own rules, and don’t play well with the other states or grid.  So when $hit hits the fan, they are on their own.

We have multiple power companies to choose from in texas. There is a website where you can compare rates and get the best deal. I go there every couple years when my contract is gettting close to expiring and take the quote back to my current power company. They always beat whatever rate I give them.
That's interesting.  When Tx's power grid failed last winter, and caused so much death/destruction/pain, I was under the assumption that TX had a single provider, which was disconnected from the rest of the US.
There are only a few power generators ONCOR being the largest I believe but there are multiple companies from whom you can choose to purchase electricity. They are all middle men for the companies like ONCOR

Texas' grid is (was?) separated from neighboring states but since it's a big effing state Texas has multiple generating/providers.
I wonder what ever happened to those folks that didn't read the fine print in their rate contracts that received bills for many thousands of dollars during that period/storm. Were their bills "normalized" or did they have to pay up?

If I recall correctly most were normalized and the excess charges were removed. Anyways back on point. We have snowmaggedon lite going on. 1/3" of ice on the roads and the whole dang area shut down. Grocery stores were wiped out when I went yesterday during the apocalypse and doubt they will be stocked back until Sunday.

Rolled thru local Kroger earlier today.Cat food hit hard.  Dog food no issues.
The Super Bowl chicken wing price gouge is on-$4.49/lb and these were commodity wings.  That's up $2/lb over that past 6 months or so.  Labor costs have to be driving it along with the SB as other parted out chix pieces/parts have not seen that rate of increase.

Kroger and Dollar store both only 4 oz bottle of tussin cough medicine and it was generic brand and strawberry and menthol flavor. Other stuff missing in drug section, but grocery and meat seemed about normal.

I haven't seen a grocery store lately with more than three employees at the registers.  One at the single open lane so they can sell cigarettes, and two others manning the "self-check-outs".

Not a grocery store, but we have a bbq joint every block it seems.  This  was on the doors of a more popular one last night.

We are doing a Charcuterie board this weekend. I went by publix today and they were out of Ritz crackers. They were actually out of a lot of types of crackers. They had 2 boxes of club crackers left.

Walk over to the deli section, they’ll have crackers there under the deli display or nearby.  They will be different crackers, not ritz or saltines or chicken in a biscuit, but they’ll be perfect for what you’re doing.  If you strike out there, hit the gluten free/health food section and they’ll have even different crackers there. Rice crackers are your friend, the almond flour ones are good, rice is better.

if THAT doesn’t work, hit Walgreens or CVS.

Yessir, currently capable of making and holding 160 pallets of frozen product.

The other Reefer problem requires a whole new production facility. Also have that problem figured out as well
