Hub cap for a rental car.  Three lanes wide on CA 19 in SF.  No place to go, middle lane and surrounded. Hit a pot hole, surprised I didn't blow the tire, rear-view mirror glance and see the hub cap spinning to the center concrete barrier.  Even stealer has got to be cheaper than the rental upcharge.
I somehow know Friday the 13th was gonna get me in some way.

Unfortunately your hub cap might be the least of your worries with a rental car in San Francisco. I hope you come back with all your windows intact. Safe travels!

I've thought about growing some "herbs" myself.....

But, that is one thing Iowa trails behind Illinois on.  And, my neighbor is a cop.

Have you fired one, @TechsasJim?  My Dad has one (about 4 years old) and the trigger on his is awful.  It's a perfect size and has the Crimson Trace Grip.  Great little gun, but it needs a trigger job.  I told him if he carries it, he should just throw it at the bad guy or try to blind him with the laser.  He can't hit anything with it because of the long heavy travel and mushy feel.  Reminds me of a stock 10/22.

i have fired one but it had work done to it.   A buddy has a Nightfall and loves it but I’m not sure I trust his judgement.   I think I may end up passing on it and just keep rolling with my Sig as my main carry.

Can you painfully buy 4 at once or do you have staggered wheel setup that precludes any tire rotation??  Regardless, hopefully you sourced thru www.tirerack.com.

We have been buying tires through Costco.  I just checked tirerack, and they were actually less expensive through Costco.

What kind of life did you get out of your Michelins?  Mine came with the car, and didn't last 9K.  I replaced them with Firestones and while I haven't checked them recently they've gone almost to 30K so far.

I’ve always gotten pretty close to the life they’re rated for.  But the various options are rated differently.  For example some of the Pilot Sports are rated for 20k miles while others are for 45k.

Since it is against Egghead Forum bylaws, please don't take my comment as a reason to not spend money!  But, I would ask the seller if they will let you dry fire it once to see how the trigger is.  Or, just plan on finding someone who can sweeten it up a little, just in case.  They are such a nice little gun, otherwise.

Good to know someone has had good luck. Never had a single set of Michelins last more than half of their supposed life. Will never buy them again.

For what it's worth, I prefer a bit more tire pressure than is usually recommended, although not higher than what the tire's rated for. That mileage includes towing a 5,000 lb. sailboat to California twice and over the Continental Divide many times. For towing, I inflated them to the max. When the tires finally wore out, I replaced them with new ones.

I have a Tundra as well with the same tires as Cory, the Michelin LTX.  I got about 70,000 miles on them and love them on this truck.

My RAM 2500 tires are wearing terribly.  Only got about 35k out of the tires.  I haul mostly loaded ~10,000lbs.  The rears do well, but the fronts are the issue.  I run 70psi in the rear and 60psi in the front. (I ran 80/80 for a while, wear wasn't improved, but the ride went to pot).

My Jeep is wearing very well.  About 45000 miles and probably have another 20,000 left.  I run those around 20 psi on the road and 12psi on trails.

If you are not getting the mileage out of your tires you probably do either drive like **** (fish) or have an alignment issue.

Rams have a known issue with heavy loads and their front suspension geometry.  Apparently the fronts unload enough to negatively impact wear.  I am not the only one.  Apparently, with airbags you can correct it.  Just meeting factory specs isn't sufficient, and they way they are designed not everything upfront is adjustable.
