All of these horror stories leave me shocked that you all have purchased mandolins that don't come with the little hand / finger guards.

I would think that would be a product liability nightmare for the manufacturer.
These companies making what are now-standard kitchen tools and whatnot have largely liability-proofed themselves at this point.  You will find them coming with all kinds of warning labels that explain risk of serious injury under all kinds of conditions and circumstances.  That's because every idiot on the planet has already done something stupid with them and sued.

I had a class in college from a prof who was an expert witness for this kind of stuff.  Mechanical engineer who knew all about machines and failure.  He used to tell us horror stories of people doing incredibly dumb things and then successfully suing manufacturers.   Like the two high school kids who thought they could use a running lawnmower to trim the hedges, went to pick it up from the bottom with their fingers while it was running, and... well, you get the idea.
I have a Pampered Chef Mandalin.  I hate it.  You cannot slice without the food guide/holder thing, but it cannot hold anything larger than an egg.  No free hand slicing.  I have tried to rig it so the blade stays up and I can free hand, but results are less than ideal.  This is the result of people hurting themselves, but it has essentially ruined the utility of the tool.
Isn’t it widely know that everything Pampered Chef makes is dogsh!t ?

I've been really impressed with the set of Pampered Chef stoneware muffin pans my wife got at one of those parties she went to a decade ago. They're super heavy duty and haven't cracked yet.  Not sure about their other range of products tho.

I have a few of their things I really like, mostly hand tools.  Even have their fancy cooking blender thing that is pretty cool.  Wife was supporting her cousin who was hustling PC stuff.  It makes really good peanut butter and smoothies.

    Wiper blades.

I don't feel like I'm one to complain.  And I don't want  to sound LIT-ish, but a strip of rubber on a thin metal frame should not cost this much.  My jaw drops every time I buy them.  I have tried "high end" and low end.... they all need to be replaced at the same frequency I feel.  . .

DASH Safe Slice Mandoline Slicer,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08PDNH6YT

It's not the best mandoline, but it prevents the slicing of the finger. As long as you can cut things small enough to get in the tube without sacrificing what you're trying for it's good.

It’s the space age coatings.  We replace every year, end of summer.  They usually have one of the better quality (space age coating) models at Costco, takes some of the pain out of it.

Space Age coatings are from the 60s.  We can't even make it to the moon today.

I just looked them up on Rockauto.com - way cheaper.  I could replace once every 2 weeks at their economy price or once a month for the high end wipers. The corner auto parts store has you .... you pull in because you're upset that the drivers side wiper is missing a 10 inch diameter spot in your field of vision and you drop 60 bucks on a pair.

I have grabbed them at Costco when they come in.  Those were decent and priced right.

Wiper Blades- Yes you need functional blades but I'm a big believer in Rain-Ex on the windshield.  Cuts down on blade use (not to discount the weathering) and once above around 50 mph (90 kmph) you can roll without the wipers in any low to medium rain storm.  FWIW-

I have used it in the past and did enjoy!
I'm dealing with snow and ice.  I go thru a gallon of wiper fluid in two weeks.  I have a two stall attached garage, but can't park in it.  It has a commercial fridge, commercial freezer,  12 bikes,  firewood,  toolboxes,  30 storage totes, Blackstone,  2 eggs and accessories.  I park outside.  😀

Alli has no interest in tech, just wants a laptop and phone that she can work. Her data use per month is about 0.2gb on the phone, everything else is on the wifi. She has my old MacBook but that's a 2020 as I just got a new one.

Whatever happened to just being able to buy the refills? Now you have to buy the whole contraption, and hope you got it installed correctly and it doesn’t fly off when your wife is driving down the interstate by herself in a raging downpour, leaving her stuck on the side of the road with traffic whizzing by feet away… Always carry a spare soft glasses case and some electrical tape, I say.

How much for a sofa? Ouch.

No, this isn't an actual picture of the one we got. That one hasn't been delivered yet. We bought a floor model, so will get it in the next two weeks or so, instead of 8-10 months. I think I have killed and buried my '70s blue collar upbringing finally.

last time i bought just one for 30 something bucks, a half hour argument broke ought because the manager thought i should buy a pair. i bought one and they were priced each.....it always seems the driver side is the one that fails. if they just went back to the rubber piece that slides into the wiper frame for a buck a pair i would be happier

Need this group's input on a new TV.  Looking at a 65" but not sure if a QLED or OLED is worth the extra money.  Thoughts please! Thanks in advance.

QLED.  Or the new Samsung NeoQLED.  Fantastic TVs, with none of the life issues that OLED still have.  OLED is not like a plasma where a pixel shift, or just shutting it off saves life.  OLED is cumulative.  I have a friend who games a lot and in 18 months on his OLED he has noticed image degradation.

I am a big fan of Samsung Q series.  The Q80 and higher have a significantly improved internal speaker system too.

I have a Q80 85", 75" and a Q60 50".  The Q80 surpass my calibrated Panasonic Plasma.  My only complaint is yellows can be a bit forward, not as neutral as I like, but I haven't bothered to calibrate them they were so good out of the box.

@ColbyLang Callaway irons are “money”.  I just sold my APEX 19’s for a ridiculous price on eBay, and bought Ping G425’s after a fitting session.  The new technology in clubs gives us old golfers a definite advantage!

I’ve got the G410 driver and fairway woods. Didn’t hit the Ping 425’s as good as the Callaway’s. Kind of disappointed as my last set were Ping I3’s (circa 2000). Just can’t believe how much better I hit the Rogue

I agree, for me best combination of value (good price) and quality is Samsung. I bought a 65" and then followed up with a 75" for another room, because I was so impressed.

Even the remote and software ... it auto recognizes what equipment is attached and feeding the video signal, and then automatically sets up the remote to work EVERYTHING on their remote ... so simple to use. No more fumbling with 5 remotes, or having to buy a Logitech programmable remote to do all that.

Sold the Callaway CF19’s for $500 (4-PW) locally. I also sold a set of Titleist T200 irons for $600, but they were like new. Head flew off the 7 iron, and I found out Titleist built a bunch of these with “bad” epoxy. Factory wanted me to send in to replace epoxy on set, but was going to take 8 weeks.
You will like the soft feel of PXG irons.

This just made my day, thank you Mark!

Logitech quit making universal remotes a few months back, and to my knowledge there are no equivalents.  My Harmony One, and my TV, are both twelve years old so I'm sure one or the other will be dying someday; I'll have to look into the Samsungs.

The only issue is the Samsungs use full-gloss glass, while my LG has a matte surface; that really makes a difference when you have windows on two sides of your living room.
