Just read a news article about Ammon Bundy being arrested on several misdemeanors for refusing to leave the Idaho Statehouse.
Made me recall the 2016 incident he lead in occupying federal (that would be yours and mine) lands.  The response from the executive branch could best be described as measured and reasonable.  When I contrast that with the incidents of 2020 it leaves me wondering, what is being accomplished and for who?

    Nice non-answer.

Do you support those people rioting everyday in Portland and burning cities all over the country and crapping in the streets all over California? I think Biden refers to them as his base.

What planet are you living on where you think there are people crapping in the streets all over California?  Maybe give the cocaine a rest for the night pal.

Serious question: have you ever been to California?  When was the last time you visited the state?

But I mean is this really what people who consume conservative news all day really think about California - that it’s some kind of dystopian hellscape where you can’t even walk in the streets because of all the human feces scattered everywhere?  Do you guys even hear yourselves?

I have been to California. Went to visit a friend in Modesto back in 2018. Really enjoyed it.

Don't shoot the messenger. I just provided links @thetrim was referring to. I find them humorous. Writing off a state because of a city and its terrible policies is extremely closed minded.

Granted it’s been 10 years since my last visit to California but when I went to San Francisco in 2010 there was not crap on the streets. It was actually very clean and one of my favorite places I’ve ever visited. I agree with practically nothing policy wise in that city. Oakland on the other hand looked like a toilet that was overflowing. LA is also fun to visit. Just my 2 cents.

The problem here isn't where he got shot. IF and I do stress IF, there is a justifiable reason to use deadly force, those shots presented the best possible backdrop. They are in a residential neighborhood and there are obviously people walking around. At least in the car (yes, I am aware of the children in the car) there is an engine block to stop over travel of potential rounds.

At the end of the day, that officer is going to have to answer for every round he discharged. It is unfortunate that there isn't body camera footage available to tell the story.
    @Battleborn, if I could ask a question?
I don't know what happened on the backside of that car, but could see that the arrestee started walking to the front of the car, down the front of the car, and back towards the driver's side door, all the while ignoring the police's orders to stop.
Once he got close to the driver's side door, why didn't the cops put one bullet in each of his legs?  That would have immobilized him.  Instead, they waited until he was reaching into the vehicle, and at that point there was no telling what could've happened, and they put over half-dozen bullets in his back.

I'm not getting it.  Is it a training thing (I'm former military, and understand training/protocol).  Why didn't he/they do this?

Truncheon to the noggin an option?  Probably wouldn't cost our health system 3 million dollars in medical bills.

Because shooting in the leg isn't a legitimate aiming point. It's a smaller target and is still lethal. Why things are done or not done, I can't really answer. From watching the small amount of video available, whatever happened that made that officer use deadly force had to have happened inside the car. Unfortunately, we can't see that and they are being tight lipped to this point.

There are so many variables as to why things happen. Did these officers know that the kids were his? Did he in fact have a knife? What was said? Why were they fighting with him in the first place?

There is too much income disparity in California, in many areas, but not all.  Silicon Valley and the Bay Area demands a robust service economy, but those very service workers struggle to survive, let alone thrive there.  It’s not an easy problem, by any means.  Shitting in the street is a symptom, not the root problem.  Of course socialism isn’t the answer, but neither is tossing everyone in jail.

I love California, I grew up and spent most of my life there.  It’s not a simple problem and it’s not for lack of effort or want.  But I get that some people can’t appreciate that, reading this forum on their iPhone or computer, enjoying a glass of wine, watching tv or a movie.  It can be easy to miss.  These are our problems, not their problems.

Rear knee kick takedown would have worked and likely no medical bills and no civil suit. But who knows, easier just to pop a cap (or 7) in his a$$.

It does but if they legitimately thought he had a knife it would have put them in range of a deadly weapon. Besides that a stomp kick to the back of the knee stands a good chance of tearing the ligaments.

Well a rear knee kick is not like a stomp or a vicious side sweep of the knee. You're not trying to break the damn thing. Bend the knee joint and it will fold under its own weight and along with a pull on one or both shoulders will put the person on the ground. Then you can stomp them I guess.

Training. I suggest they teach cops how to lasso and calf rope - that would be fun!
