I''ll throw it on here.  Nasty smell in the small toilet room.

I replaced the wax ring but not the mounting bolts.  They are very small.  I'm thinking I need a redo on this and get some bigger, better mounting bolts.

Is there a need or benefit to caulking around the base as well?  Could that fix my stank issue?

I vote cracked p-trap or plugged vent on the sewer side of your plumbing.  Also check bathroom sink and shower/tube if you have one in the same room.

It's a Jack and Jill bathroom w the toilet and shower/bathtub in a separate room from the two sinks.

    I'll do some sniffing around.

Really does smell like a line of port o johns from a Pearl Jam concert in there minus the hippy lettuce

If your vent were blocked, siphoning could be sucking the sink or tub valve dry when the toilet is flushed.

could be crack in the toilet

Yup, full size.  He is a phenomenal dog.  I have never had a dog so easy to train and so driven to please.  Only problem is he was destined for the UK, so they did not dock his tail.  With him being around horses and other livestock, I would have preferred a docked tail.  It makes a handy place for cows to bite and grab on to.  Aside from that, this might be the last breed I ever own.
Ours is loyal to a fault. No livestock, just kids. She protects them more than any other breed I’ve seen. Very wary of strangers. She too is eager to please and extremely smart.
I had an Aussie as a kid in high school, gave him to my uncle when I joined the Navy. He owned a dairy farm with 200 head - the dog took to herding with absolutely no training. My uncle hasn’t been without an Aussie ever since.

Caulking the toilet to the floor is good for house keeping, but it is recommended to leave a gap in the back.  So this would not seal out gases or water.

@thetrim you got lots of good advice, p-trap was the first thing I thought about too. Also make sure the floor is level and the toilet doesn't rock, that happened to me once and I needed extra washers to fix it. Your challenge is like an N95 mask test, if you smell the spray there's a leak somewhere, kidding  =)

Sad night. Sipping the last of my all time favorite bourbon;  L.W. Harper.

Hard to find, hurts the wallet when you do, but the first pour to the last, awesome.

I hate searching all of Kentucky for the black label, of this favorite nectar, defined as such by the bourbon Gods.

Half the faucets in my house follow that, half do not.

Prepping brisket. I haven’t cooked one in a LONG time. This is from slagel farms, should be a great quality piece of meat, but it’s thinner than the typical packer. We’ll see. A wise man once told me the cow drives the cook so that’s my strategy.

If you have any air admittance valves in the smelly room, they could be faulty. Look under your bathroom sink in the cabinet.  If you have one, it will be on the drain stack somewhere.  They are supposed to only suck air in when water is flowing down the drain, however, they sometimes fail and the let smelly air out.  I have had to replace a couple on campers and one in a NEW residential bathroom remodel.  It must have been bad out of the box.

I have considered your conundrum at length and am haunted by some of the images it has conjured.

    Nonetheless the only logical explanation is this;
Person(s) unknown at time and date unknown have entered your small room by means unknown and strapped a fish to the back of the radiator for reasons unknown.

I hope that helps,  I think you'll find it contains all the salient material you need to enable a satisfactory conclusion.

You're welcome.   Any time.   Here to help.

Thx, appears to be just a practice round for us early on in the season. Nothing to joke about, no where near as severe as they’ve been

When the Sopranos was good, it was better than anything else on TV.  I know I’m in the minority, but I found BB to be terribly overrated.  I bailed at some point in the 4th season and have never bothered to finish.

Are dogs not allowed to have docked tails in the UK?
Dogs in the UK cannot have any "cosmetic" modifications.  No docked tails, ears, or dew claws.  I do not know much about ears, but docked tails and dew claws have benefits for working dogs, so this is something I take issue with.
Working dogs can have docked tails, because it's not cosmetic. Normally, that means buying a dog from a working breeder or farm. It's relatively rare now.
