Ok, I'm going to start researching routers now. I would like one with a better range anyways so I can get WIFI in the garage.

4Runner said:Plus 1 on @cazzy post. Not sure about Uverse but with Time Warner you can turn in their modem and buy your own and save $5 - $8 per month. The modem pays for itself in a year or so. Then add your favorite wifi router and then you can manage it the way you want.Just a hack that makes some $hitty BBQ....

Looks like my directions here...we'll see when I get home!

I am going to call ATT before doing anything crazy....worst case scenario, I just let it roll without outside access...tired of F'n with it.

Did you set up your subnet and gateway on the Rocks set up page- The video is no good for setting up the remote ( non wi fi ) the tell you to leave those settings alone but you have to configure that-Visalia, Ca @lkapigian -
Alright guys.... I got the Stoker today in the mail. I spent about 2 hours with it (most of the time spent was trying to find the Stoker's MAC address - other than that it was a breeze) and got the wifi and remote access set up.
The issue I have is that when you select Temp Control and then SCAN the video shows that you are to get "Sensor 1"etc. Mine has some mumble jumble, nothing resembling anything as nice and straight forward like Sensor 1, sensor 2, etc.
Anyone else have this issue?

Wow, my pit probe has been 25~30 degrees lower than the two food probes all along. That is a bit concerning. I can see fine tuning calibration, but that is A LOT.
-
Yes my probes were letters and numbers but you can rename them on the StokerGambrills,Maryland

Are you testing them in boiling water @stompbox ? Not sure what your last post means?I raise my kids, cook and golf. When work gets in the way I'm pissed, I'm pissed off 48 weeks a year.Inbetween Iowa and Colorado, not close to anything remotely entertaining outside of football season.

ooooh no. I just realized that I did not try the Pit Pal Pro yet. Guess I need to fire it back up. -
Each probe has a number assigned to it that is the calibration number, go to page 34 of the Stoker manual and it describes how to calibrate. I do my probes, easy to do. For competition cooks they get checked the night before.Gambrills,Maryland

Looks like you got it figured out.... I would do what @cazzy said about using your own router... You should be able to put the ATT modem/router in to bridge mode though... Are you subscribing to there video service (Uverse?) also though ? If so it gets a little tricker to use your own router (VLANS multicast etc).... I would suggest using a different port anyway make you a little more anonymous...

I haven't had a chance to go back and mess with this yet...I am going to try again tonight. From what I'm reading, I need to make sure my settings on the stoker match the settings on my ATT modem? I will also make sure I use something other than port 80.
-
Port doesn't matter really.....if any port is open someone smart will know it. Also, 99% of the time your Stoker isn't on so it will be forwarding to a device that isn't available. Hope you get this straight.Joe - I'm a reformed gasser-holic aka 4Runner Columbia, SC Wonderful BGE Resource Site: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/ceramicfaq.htm and http://www.nibblemethis.com/ and http://playingwithfireandsmoke.blogspot.com/2006/02/recipes.html

@lkapigian I'm interested to hear how you finaliZed the settings to get it to work.
-
Which setting should my WiFi mode be on for the stoker setup page? I've had it on client...

Disregard all my questions...I finally have it figured out...It seems that I was using the wrong Subnet address from my router. Just changed it from 255.255.252.0 to 255.255.255.0 and it works now. I also cleared everything and started all over since I had tried so many different things. I owe each and every one of you a slab of ribs for all your help. The least I can do!

Somewhere on my ATT setup pages, the 2 was there..either way, it's working now.
