I haven't had a chance to call them back, and won't be home this week, so another two weeks before I get mine straightened out.

@lkapigian you have to establish 2 ip addresses. One for when it's plugged in. One for when it's on the WiFi. I think mine are literally one number apart.

@fusionhq sorry to hear that man that stinks.

@Scottborasjr I have the Second up but I must be doing it wrong.. I'm sure that's on my end. I watched the video. when I do the first ip address put it in my phone or iPad it goes to the screen just like the video. but when rebooting it mine never says searching for wireless, though when I go to network and RO IP there is an address in there.

I'm hoping to hear back from them as this still has issues even without the WiFi . screen freezes and when doing a test run, it constantly reboots itself.

it isn't Cancer so in the big scheme, not a big deal...just have to wait a bit..made it this far in life without, few more days won't hurt...I appreciate everyone's help

If you are still having issues with freezing and such I would call them. Mine has never froze once or ever rebooted with out me telling it to. Sorry couldn't be more help. Was really hoping you'd be up and going today.

So, just got off the phone with them- Great to deal with- They are shipping another unit with a return shipping for the one that had issues- I offered to send mine back and I'd pay the freight, they could send me the new one after they received the old one- but they insisted Just sending me the new, and return the old later-

Service shows itself when there are problems- their service was great!

It really isn't. YouTube links walk you through step by step to set it up. And more YouTube videos give you tips on using it and importance of probe placements, starting the pit fire and so on and so forth. It's not as complex as it seems. Once you've used it it becomes quite simple actually.

Thanks @NPHuskerFL  I need to figure out how to get the wifi setup on mine and I didn't think about checking YouTube. The manual I printed from their website looks like a PITA to decipher

@NPHuskerFL they seemed to think my WiFi issue was related to the power supply- should have the new one in a couple of days

You might check around the house for another power supply. 5VDC and 4A will work.

    Ok,

I got a call from Kevin at Rocks today.  He sincerely apologized for the problems that I've had, and that he didn't get back to me the other day.  He apologized for the bad unit.  He explained to me that he was getting ready to overnight me a new Stoker WIFI, but wanted to confirm my address before doing so.  I told him that I really appreciated the offer, but no need to overnight it.  I will not be able to mess with it for a week or so, so told him to just try and get it to me by Friday.  He apologized again, and said that they're working through back orders, and being a small company, they had one slip through the cracks.  I told him thanks so much for the help, and that I understand the problems associated with a small business of their kind.  This is the response that they need to continue to provide.  I feel much better now that I talked at length with Kevin.

The service y'all are getting makes me feel better. Mine was ordered on the 17th and I was getting concerned.  No more!  Excited again!

Kudos to rocksbbq and thanks to those that updated the thread.

I had sent them an email asking if there was a known issue at the moment and had pointed him to this thread to see there were multiple people with similar issues.

Nice to hear they came through for you guys.

    Can't wait to get mine!

I'm excited at this point...to me it seems they narrowed the problem down...Kevin was nothing but the best to talk to ... I want to put out there that I was disappointed in the lack of service/contact during this transaction, but I now understand...these guys are putting out a quality product with a limited staff....I'll leave it at that, if you want to know more, just call them...I think a lot of the disconnect comes from them being on the west coast...  I will be a happy cooker here soon...I really wanted to get some jerky done before it got this warm, but we'll see how it does!!!

You guys won't regret it once you get a unit that works, I can't imagine doing a longer then 3 hour cook below 300 degrees without it now. I got a discounted corned beef that I'm going to make pastrami out of for an old buddy in the next few days.

So got me replacement in today, thanks Rocks, Thanks @NPHuskerFL for you input....wifi set up went without a hitch, PitPal works fine...my only suggestion , that if you are like me and bought it for remote access , not just around the house...that set up is not easy for a non tech guy....Spoke with Rocks though and they will walk me through it tomorrow ....Hope to be sitting at a bar Sunday morning, and be Egging from miles away

@lkapigian just a word of warning about the mobile part. And maybe you can ask Rocks about it tomorrow, but I have had no luck controlling it over 3g, had to have a WiFi signal.  Which isn't a problem for me since when I do leave it I'm at work or at my parents.  I should probably contact the PitPal guy and see what he says about it.

Edit: You can check your temps over 3g but in order to tell the Stoker to raise or lower the temp, in my experience, have to be on 4g or Wifi.

I do when I am in Florida at the Marina bar but it is across the street from my house and my wifi reception is still good. I would like to use it further away so if you get it figured out, you can teach me .

Ok so I just tried to post a link to the Naked Whiz website that walks you through getting your stoker visible to outside your network internet and got the message that my post would show up when it was approved.  GRRRRR.

Anyway if you go to the Naked Whiz review of the stoker on his website on section 13 or 14 of the review he has a pretty inclusive write up on how to go about this.

@NPHuskerFL recommended to me that I check out the videos. They were helpful as the networking instructions included in the box were "weird" to say the least.
