Got the new Stoker II working off my cellphone and I am 30 miles from my house controlling it on the Stoker Status, and figured out how to use Pit Pal app away from WiFi.

DoubleEgger said:@NPHuskerFL recommended to me that I check out the videos. They were helpful as the networking instructions included in the box were "weird" to say the least.
Yes but your will be a bit different- The new ones will not say "connecting to wi fi" like the video says it will---I assumed something was wrong and there wasn't ....after you put the IP in and hit save--it will take you to the home screen, this is not reflected in the video...when you power off unplug the Ethernet before you turn back an to get the WiFi IP..just a few things I learned that are a bit different from the videoVisalia, Ca @lkapigian -
Yes the videos are for the older Stokers and there are little changes like Ikapigian says.

The attached document is what I had to do with my Netgear Router and what I had to change to get the PitPal app and Stoker Status page to work away from my home Wifi connection. The only thing I did not put in the paper is how to set up the "Read Only" for the Stoker Status page. Please review it and advise of any changes so we can help others in the future.

Anyway if you go to the Naked Whiz review of the stoker on his website on section 13 or 14 of the review he has a pretty inclusive write up on how to go about this.1 large BGE, 2 small BGE, 3 Plate setters, 1 large cast iron grid, 1 pizza stone, 1 Stoker II Wifi, 1 BBQ Guru Digi-Q II, 1 Amaze N pellet smoker and 1 empty wallet. Hopefully we got @Ikapigian up and running, the Pace routers are more difficult because of no documentation on them

Yes the Port Forwarding is the key to using the iPad, kindle, or and device that is not in range of your wifi.Gambrills,Maryland

I have got my stoker setup and working while on my home wifi, but cannot seem to get the port forwarding to work. I have ATT Uverse, and they claim it's easy to setup, but I can't seem to get it. Any ideas?

@fusionhq are you able to login to your router successfully?

I am able to login to my router, and adjust the settings on the ATT portal/user interface.
@4runner, yes...I try to access from my phone (LTE) instead of WIFI (home) and I get a timeout on my IP Address. I have also checked the "visibility" of the port at my IP, and it says it's not visible. Almost like ATT is locking that port down that I'm trying to use (80).
-
@fusionhq From what I am reading you have gone through all the step to set up the Stoker on your Wifi correctly and you can access it in Wifi mode but you are having issues accessing it away from the wifi network correct ?
2. Are you trying to connect to the Stoker Status or a app ?
3. When you try to access it on your phone are you using the Stoker Wifi (RO) address or are you using your Public IP address ?
Gambrills,Maryland -
Just to make sure, it is your routers IP (wan) and for the port forwarding you are forwarding to your Stokers internal ip (lan) correct? Also, if you didn't reserve or setup a static ip for your Stoker, double check your Stokers ip. Port 80 is for web traffic so I wouldnt think att would block that....way too typical. You will get it. I'm sure it is something simple.Joe - I'm a reformed gasser-holic aka 4Runner Columbia, SC Wonderful BGE Resource Site: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/ceramicfaq.htm and http://www.nibblemethis.com/ and http://playingwithfireandsmoke.blogspot.com/2006/02/recipes.html

@Fireman_Joe ...I have tried accessing the Stoker interface, by simply using my public IP, not the Stoker RO. I have also tried to access using PitPal App.
@4runner I'm sure it's something simple. The port forwarding setup through ATT seems very simple, and it is, but I still can't get access from outside the Wifi network.
-
Double check your Stokers IP equals where you are port forwarding.

It does sound like a port issue, the only other thing would be the Stoker was not turned on.Gambrills,Maryland
